• Just what would it take? A championship? Not winning a championship? A team commitment? Just what would it take for John Wall, DeMarcus Cousins and/or Patrick Patterson to come back for another year at Kentucky? Before we explore some possibilities, keep in mind that none of them have ruled out the possibility of returning for another season.

Attachment 531Each of these three fabulous players are going to make a lot of money in the NBA and will become instant superstars. Money and fame are difficult to pass up, even if it is just for a year. We have heard on a few occasions that they wouldn't make any decisions until the end of the year. Is that because they want to let the fans believe that they are sincerely focused on the task at hand as Wildcats or is it that they truly won't make a decision until they see if they achieve goals they have set?

Attachment 530Not winning the championship: This is the obvious one and the one that probably has the most bearing on a return. If the Wildcats do not win the NCAA would they return to see if an additional year of knowledge and maturity would take them to the top?

Winning the championship: It's not as obvious, but perhaps winning a championship would bring them back for another year to see if they could repeat. The only thing better than being a POY candidate and winning the NCAA tournament would be being the POY and winning back to back NCAA championships.Attachment 532

    Maybe, just maybe...

I think that Wall and Cousins should take a look at Patterson. His maturity level in his career over the last few years is amazing, money can't buy somethings. I feel they could gain so much by staying at the college level. However, if they choose to move on the the NBA, I wish them the best.

It would be more than GREAT for them to stay for another year. I think if they have more maturity and experience that will make them even BETTER NBA players and worth more at that, not to mention that UK could be unstoppable!!!

I think they should all stay. John Wall was probably the best freshman player in all of college basketball from the beggining, then Big cuz comes into the picture. How many double double's did he have? He was another top freshman, and works good with Wall. Then there's Patrick Patterson. A big part of the kentucky wildcats for several seasons! They all have the potential to win the NCAA, how 'bout you do it next season too. All the fans love you 3 together. You all could go make big money, instant stars, or you could stick around for just one more year, give your fans what they want, and make the name of kentucky the best in the nation. It's one year, and you'll become more and more popular throuh time. It's just gonna get you more money when the time comes!

Would love to see them play together another year!! Think one more year would be beneficial especially to Wall & Cousins. More maturity as they step up to the next level. Besides, we love to watch them in the UK BLUE!!!

Don't know what it would take to get them to stay, but I sure wish they would. They & Coach Cal have made KY basketball fun again. I think they all would benefit from another year of college play, especially Wall and Cousins. So please stay guys!

      GO WILDCATS!!!

Money is hard to give up. I know NBA is their dream thing. But I would love for them to come back. But you know, they gotta do what they want to do! regardless - what happens.. they will be my favorite players! I will follow them in the NBA. Lets go Cats! Focus on the big prize and let the NBA issue be on the back burner!

The biggest obstacle to getting those guys to come back isn't in UK's hands. It is the NBA collective bargaining agreement. The NBA figures to lock out its players following next season. If they don't go pro this year, they may need to return two years (something Patterson can't do) because there will be no NBA to go to, at least for part of the 2011-12 season. I would not advise anyone who was first round this season to come back. I would say go pro, save your money, b/c you might not get paid for a substantial part of the following year. Historically, there is almost always a labor stoppage, and the NBA has made it clear it wants concessions from the players about which their union does not seem happy.

John Wall says he wants to be the best. I think he could learn a lot from staying in College another year. Things he would be able to take to the NBA and have a real advantage. And just think how good Cousins could be next year. He would dominate everyone. Although it's likely these guys will remain in our heads and hearts like the unforgetables or the 96 team have. They could become the greatest team UK ever played and that means the greatest team to ever play in the NCAA.
