Coach Mitchell has some explaining to do. He does make an effort to address the situation, but it falls very flat. He spoke for 45 minutes recently and said almost nothing.
“We have had so many players come through here and who have graduated and are out being successful now and we have had a great amount of success. I feel like a lot of people have walked out the door thinking that I am not hard to deal with I’m sure there are some that do feel like I was hard to deal with. When you’re leading an organization that has so many different people in it, it is up to you to make sure you are doing your dead-level best to be the best communicator you can be. And communication is changing all the time.”
Assistant coaches leaving, 6 players, and 1 recruit decommiting. There also may be other star players thinking about transferring.
Rumors have been swirling about the possible causes, the main rumor being that Mitchell was too strict and that there may have been some unnamed, inappropriate behavior among team mates.
Will we ever know the truth? Probably not, but, what I do know is that Mitchel makes around 1 million a year. That is more than the President of the USA makes. This is more than most doctors and surgeons make. Shouldn’t Kentucky be seeing the fruits of this great privilege we have given him in our state, taking care of our players?
The Herald Leader recently had a conversation with him, but enlightening, it was not.
No matter what, we will always have footage of him doing the ‘Stanky Leg’ and ‘Nae Nae’.
