I am glad no one is looking at my facebook and deciding to post it on a website for the world to see. Twitter is one thing, facebook is another! If you didn't already know, a "friend" of Daniel Orton called him out in one of the comment sections of a personal facebook post. Now I would think that Daniel had to approve this person as his friend for him to gain access. Most players accept everyone's request because they are players and they have fans, etc, etc. Well, when something negative comes up from a "fan", and the player doesn't like it, feelings get hurt.

I am not defending the "fan" that posted the negative comments, because they were terrible, but how is it making the situation any better posting the comments with the "fan's" name and picture on a website for thousands more to see? Facebook requires people to approve their friends, unless the person doesn't set up their account as private. Daniel Orton does have his setup for private. Is it really right to post negative comments from a fan on a UK player's facebook to a public forum for all to see and hence creating a witch hunt? It was already posted on twitter, which probably a low percentage of people use anyway. Two wrongs don't make it right.

It is going to be a rough couple of weeks for the "fan", because the Big Blue Nation all knows who he is and what he looks like. Just think if Daniel had deleted the post and reported it to facebook, this would not be news. He didn't though; he sent it to twitter, with the "fan's" name and picture. Maybe he has that right since it was on his page. You have to remember he is just a kid.

I just think someone claiming to be the owner of The Worldwide Leader of Kentucky Blogs would be better than to help paint a larger bullseye on a guy's chest.

The guy doesn't deserve to have to deal with all these messages/comments I'm sure he's getting, but what he said was really uncalled for and out of line. He took it too far and made some comments I'm sure he would like to take back.

I really wish that someone with some wisdom and experience would take Daniel under his wing and give him some advice and guidance about how to maneuver these dangerous waters during this crucial time in his life. He seem to be in a no-win situation, but much of it he seems to be bringing upon himself. The other side of the issue is that UK fans have never been this involved in the NBA draft picture to this degree before, because we've never been at risk of losing this many players at one time. The media has spooled the NBA draft possibilities into a tsunami of unprecedented proportions, and add to that the shark pool frenzy over recruiting their replacements, and you have a million or so fans worked into an emotional state that doesn't necessarily bring out their attractive sides.

You reap what you sow as the old saying goes...if you want "PUBLIC" content and open yourself up to it then....be mature and graceful enough to take that "Public" remarks which will never be all favorable..in fact you give some people a platform to hate, embarrass and ridicule you....it goes with the whole package...it's wrong to be vindictive when you openly invited all "public" comments.....delete the BS and go on, the same as anyone with a facebook page does everyday.

Judging from the screen capture, it looked like it might have been a facebook message that was sent—and you don't necessarily have to be someone's friend to send them a message. We don't know, then, if this guy is even facebook friends with Orton, and if he's not, then I personally think it's even more out of line for him to send Orton this message—just a random guy with no connections thinking he can tell Orton what to do? None of us can presume to know what's really happening in all of these players' minds, what's driving them to make their decisions, and in the end it's not our job to tell them whether or not they should stay. It's only our job to support them. I agree that Orton maybe needs to tone it down with Twitter and try not to take everything so personally, but that's easier said than done.

FaceBook is a public forum. Responding to an outrageous public statement is not only proper, but the responsible thing to do. If someone painted the "N" word on a private building exposed to the public, should we say, "Don't comment-- it was a private opinion", or should we condemn the action?

And do we really know who "Mark Hamilton" is and what he looks like? Is it unimaginable that someone might fake a name and a profile picture on the Internet?
