• There are many rumors going around that Tennessee head basketball coach Bruce Pearl will be fired/has been fired.

While nothing official has been confirmed, people are taking action with the rumors.

The most affected by this report is, of course, the current players and signees/recruits of Tennessee.

Pearl has the ability to win recruits over by his personality and style of play. However, if he indeed is pushed out as coach, Tennessee will lose most of their players as well.

I had the opportunity to talk to a player that has signed with Tennessee tonight, and he would like to keep his name confidential as to the news I am about to present.

While he is solely committed to the Vols right now, he is a "Bruce Pearl guy," like many other Tennessee players.

"If Coach Pearl is fired, I will not be playing at Tennessee," he said.

But it's late in the recruiting process and there isn't much time to change plans from here on out.

However, this unnamed player has another school that really pops out to him: the Louisville Cardinals.

"Louisville would be my first choice for sure," he said. "Rick Pitino would be my first option."

It is obvious that this recruit is high on the coach he will play for, and rightfully so.

As for other recruits, "It's not looking so good," the anonymous player says.

It's going to be interesting to see what happens if Pearl is fired.

It is a looming question and will hang over the team during the NCAA Tournament, but I do know one thing for sure: if Bruce Pearl leaves the University of Tennessee, players and recruits will no longer be considering the Vols as a place to play their college basketball.

I have a feeling it's going to be a tough blow for the Vols.

Man, we don't have room for any Tennessee players at UK. He ran off to them to start with. Why would we want him now? I don't.

Scotty Hopson is a bust. All that talent and so little maturity or ability to think. Not a BCG fan but Miller over Hopson was a stroke of genious.

Schools always lose recruits when a coach is fired.

And I think Pearl is gone when UcheaT loses in the NCAA Tournament-- unless they somehow make a deep run (Elite 8 or Final Four). They need to throw him under the bus now that he didn't win big.

My question is: Why now? UcheaT had all the same information about Pearl and came out strongly in support of keeping him. So . . . besides not winning big . . . what has changed? Nothing. UcheaT is a bunch of win-at-any-cost hypocrites.

Pearl will be out, not for what he did, but for what he didn't do . . . win.

I'm afraid I must agree with you. Your assessment is realistic. +1

The last two comments are funny...for not winning? Because he made the NCAA tourny but lost in the 1st round? He's the most successful coach UT has ever had, 6 straight tourny appearances , first ever elite 8 run, those are not forgotten over 1 bad loss. And UK what a bunch of hypocrites, win at all costs...yeah Calipari never had any problems did he....

You're right, the previous comments are silliness, Pearl was a great coach for UT. Anyone out there needs to realize that he is out for cheating, even though a 30 point blowout to an underdog doesnt help his cause. Also, your attack on UK is unwarranted, because we hire our coaches to win CHAMPIONSHIPS, and the ones that cant deliver arent doing their jobs, are they? having a coach that can post a winning record might be good enough for tennessee, but at kentucky, we play not just to win, but to dominate.
