• I was surprised to hear this evening from 2 reliable sources that DeAndre Daniels would eventually end up at Kentucky. I thought that ship had sailed since Daniels had said he will not play this year, but will enroll at the school he decides to go to in January.

There are other websites reporting they are hearing he is going to go to NC State in which he is visiting on Dec. 19th, but my sources are pretty positive that Kentucky fans will be happy after Daniels makes his decision. My main concern with this bit of information is what does that do to Trevor Lacey's chances of coming to Kentucky? I like Lacey a lot and would prefer him over Daniels. Maybe Cal takes them both? If he does, what happens with the returning players which will open up a scholarship? Of course, that remains to be seen and is totally up to Coach Calipari.

I guess we have something to keep an eye on in the next couple of weeks to see how all of this plays out. One thing about recruiting at Kentucky, it is always interesting since Coach Cal has taken over the reigns.

Why Lacey? I know, he can shoot, but there's a reason that no one has him in the Top 30. He's 6'3", not particularly athletic, and not great ballhandler. He is certainly a great scorer.

Daniels, OTOH, has excellent all-around skills to go with NBA-level athletic ability. He has questions about his game, same as Lacey (and the reason one service can have him #9, another #36), but I don't think too many people would question that he has more potential.

Shooters are nice, but I don't know if Cal's system is going to highlight someone like Lacey. What's important in Cal's system is not so much having great shooters, but having enough guys who are capable shooters (which he probably didn't have last year). With Lamb, Miller, Wiltjer, and others (like Daniels) who are at least a threat to hit a 3, that shouldn't be a problem next year.

You make great points too MJJ, I like Lacey though as well but that doesn't mean i hate Daniels. I just wish he would start playing now because we need him now. Plus, What a way to show your part of the team then to come in a start playing right away and sacrifice some games. I think Daniels thinks he needs more practice first but he can practice as he goes. I still think Daniels will go elsewhere because Cal surely made it clear he needed Daniels right away. I just still hope we can get Trevor Lacey too Scott A, no matter his ranking we could use a scorer like him at UK. Remember Meeks, he was ranked lower than Lacey and he turned out great so far.

We need a center folks!!! I guess none remain available for next year's class.

If Daniels can play this year and add depth to the UK frontline, then I would want him over anyone else for that matter. The NC game was an eye-opener and we need depth at the 4 and 5.

      Can he rebound?

I can't figure out why any player with Daniel's skills would wait a half season before going to a school. Never heard of that before. I hope he isn't "playing the field" because that can come back and bite him in the rear.

On the other hand mabye he's not as confident as he seems. Who knows for sure. After TJ I don't know what to expect.

In the DD you dont realy need a center, just people that can play good D and are aggressive at rebounding. Daniels would be another matchup nightmare, his length and athletic ability would be great for this year or next. We are going to have enough people that can score next year, I would rather have someone that is going to be able to penetrate and play great defense.

We would be a better team if we got either one of them. But we need depth know. Any word on Kanter...

That evaluation of Lacey sounds suspiciously like that given to Lofton coming out of high school. Take 'em both, if we can swing it. Polson will walk on, and Poole or Hood will transfer.

Because Trevor Lacey is a winner... He beat Eric Bledsoe in the state championship game. He beat Austin Rivers, the consensus #1 player, and held him to 9 points. He beat DeMarcus Cousins at LeFlore. He would have three state championship rings instead of two if he would not have injured his knee last year. And his coach Jack Doss, who has coached and coached against, Bobby Lee Hurt (Alabama), Buck Johnson (Alabama & Houston Rockets), Marvin Stone (Kentucky & Louisville), Howard Pride (Vanderbilt), Richard Hendrix (Alabama), Chadd Moore (Cincinatti), DJ White (Indiana), DeMarcus Cousins, Eric Bledsoe, Sam Spann (Syracuse), Jonathan Wallace (Georgetown), and a list of others says without a doubt! BEST HIGH SCHOOL PLAYER HE HAS EVER COACHED!

If you picked up the phone a called every coach that has coached against Trevor Lacey - they will tell you one thing. That kid is a winner. He does whatever it takes to win.

Good point. I never considered that.
