Darius Miller led all scorers with 22 points as the Cats spank the Gamecocks 90-59 at Rupp. Miller got 16 of his points in the first half alone on 4 of 5 shooting (made all 3 from downtown, missed the only 2-pointer). He finished the game 6 of 10 shooting, making all 6 of his 3-pointers and missing his 2 from inside the arc. Miller also had 9 rebounds and 3 blocks. Kentucky finished with 5 people in double-digits (Miller with 22, Jones with 19, Lamb with 18, Knight with 12 and Liggins with 11). Jones achieved a double-double with 12 rebounds as well. Knight missed a double-double by 1 assist (12 points, 9 assists).
The Cats started off the game 15-0 and never stopped. It was one of those games where they couldn’t miss (50% shooting, 55% from 3 and 77.8% free throws) and South Carolina couldn’t get going (34.4% shooting, 25% from 3 and 64.3% free throws). With just over a minute left, Calipari cleared the bench and Stacey Poole saw his first minutes since LSU on January 15th.
The Cats face Arkansas next, for their second-to-last road game of the year. Hopefully the Cats will prove that they CAN win on the road in the SEC.
