Stanford was led by senior guard, Landry Fields and sophomore guard Jeremy Green who scored a combined 41 points. With 28 seconds left in the game, Ramon Harris fouled Fields and faced a 1-and-1 situation with the game tied at 61. He hit both shots to take the lead leaving Kentucky with a must score possession to end the game. With that possession, John Wall drew a blocking call and made both of his free throws to tie the game and send it to overtime.

This was the first regular season game for John Wall, who generated lasting memory for fans.
