calipari refs judd

Believe it or not, referee John Higgins has somehow been chosen to work the Final Four.

Other refs you might recognize on the Final Four list are Doug Sirmons and Ted Valentine.

According to Jeff Goodman:

Ref assignments for the Final 4, source told ESPN: Mike Eades, Doug Sirmons, John Higgins, Ron Groover, Ted Valentine, Jeff Anderson, Michael Stephens, Tony Padilla, Verne Harris. Terry Ogelsby is the standby. Eades, Harris and Stevens in the championship game.

How, is John Higgins still a referee for the NCAA play off/ final four?
Does the NCAA not care about really bad calls? How can they hire a guy who is biased against a schools team…. to continue to call the game as an official?
This is not remaining neutral or professional. The so called certification for training calls for at least a high school education, plus some referee training….what are the standards the referee is measured by? OK, so I read where they must pass a written exam, what about on the ball court? Really? Come on NCAA get involved in this… our college kids deserve better treatment from the program that is supposed to be helping them. Not teaching them that a referee can call every game according to his own free for all wishes. And subject the players to a badgering of bungled calls and the players must be submissive to the abuse… there is something very wrong, something very vendetive with this mindset. John Higgins should be held accountable for the blatantly wrong/bad calls at the expense of the KY. basketball team. We are watching on TV seeing the same thing the referees do – why are the calls not being made? And why are calls being made backwards – penalizing the wrong players.. just a shame that the ballgame could have had a much different outcome, had an honest referee team been on the court.

You should try knowing what your talking about before speaking.
Kentucky lost, because they could not hold a lead and did not play good defense down the stretch .
You blame Higgins because God for bid it was the players not playing well enough. Nooooo can’t be their fault.
There were good and bad calls on both sides. Unc deeper.
Any of you crying like children go sign up and take the class and maybe, just maybe you will learn the rules.
This is NOT playground ball. Don’t do stupid things and a bunch of fouls go away.
That crew had a very good game. We’re there Ticky-tacky fouls? Yes for BOTH teams. However Kentucky kept doing stupid stuff to get more fouls.
Was unc 10 players deep in the first half? That was by design ?
Roy thought the 10th man on the bench would bring that game home huh!!!!!!
Stop blaming the officials WHO DO NOT CARE WHO WINS, and tip your hat to unc, it was a great game.
Better then any game with not officials

The NCAA and the gambling institution want North Carolina to win. Have to have Higgins there to ensure a win.

A lot of fouls committed by N Carolina and not called,2 basketball when shown on instant replay were good,4 of Ky starters sitting on bench in foul trouble with just 8 minutes played in the game,if game had been called even Ky would have had a double digit lead going into halftime.

All the non Kentucky fans are blasting us for trashing this ref. Think about how many times we’ve been screwed by refs, including this same ref, in the past. Have we ever gotten this pissed…NO! This ref’s agenda was 100% obvious. He was either acting on his own or at the request of the NCAA to make sure UNC won the game. There is NO doubt about that. Our kids fought hard even knowing what this ref was doing. They don’t deserve that treatment and we defend our own.

Higgins dad used to ref as well. I can not tell you how many times I have seen Higgins blatantly call a bad game both dad and son. He does a lot of games in the Big Twelve. Did a bunch for the Big East. One thing has not changed, he is still a biased horrible referee.

The issue in not necessarily one official but all officials. Multiple game outcomes decided by missed or poor calls by officials. The officiating is always questionable by one fan or another, but this years tournament has been dominated by EXTREMELY POOR OFFICIATING. When will the officials be punished for bad calls by a fine or suspension. After all if a coach makes a comment on poor officiating why can there not be a penalty for officials. During the regular season several commentators made reference to officials who called a technical foul in almost every game they officiated. Then there are the famous no calls for an unnamed player for Duke that only was called for about 1/3rd of the trips he committed. Wake up NCAA and improve the quality of officiating.
