Yesterday, Kentucky picked up its 11th commitment in the class of 2012, just a few hours after Zach Meyers (OL) also committed to Kentucky. The commitment came from Darone Bailey, a 6'6", 315-pound offensive lineman currently attending Cahoma Community College. He graduates in December and will have two seasons of eligibility remaining.
I had a chance to talk with Bailey, who is considered a top Junior College offensive lineman, about his decision to join the UK Nation...
Why did you choose Kentucky?
I just loved the environment and the coaches! I loved my visit when I went down there and decided it was the place for me to go!
What sticks out to you most about Kentucky?
It's kind of hard to choose from. I was really impressed with everything I have seen! I really can't say!
How did the coaches react when you told them you were going to commit to Kentucky?
They were really excited about it! They sounded like kids on Christmas day when they just received a brand new toy.
How do you feel you can make an impact at Kentucky?
I think I can have a great impact! Coming in starting! I think I can get the job done with the help of the team and hard work! Hopefully we can get a ring!
Do you have any concerns about eligibility?
No! My grades are great!
Which coaches from Kentucky are you talking to?
I talk to Coach Summers, Phillips, and Turner.
And what are your thoughts on them?
I wouldn't trade those guys for anything in the world! I've actually known coach turner for quite a while, back when he was at MSU!
How are you feeling now that you have committed to the University of Kentucky?
I feel good! Feel more focused!
So will you recruitment be finished or will you continue to look at other programs?
Haven't really thought about that yet! But if I do decide to look at other schools, I do not think they will top UK!
Welcome to UK Nation, Darone!
Thanks! Glad to be a part!
