West Jessamine High School saluted Jarrod Polson, retiring his #5 jersey on Friday in front of a packed house prior to the Colts’ game vs. Mercer Co. Kentucky Coach John Calipari and the entire team of Wildcats watched as former coaches, Nicholasville’s Mayor, members of the community and Polson’s family honored Jarrod. Polson was praised not only for his performance on the court, but for his conduct off the court. He was presented with a set of jerseys (one from his high school days as a Colt and one representing his time at Kentucky.) He was also given the Key to the City and a banner was unveiled depicting his name and jersey number.

Polson addressed the crowd, thanking his teammates both past and present, coaches, his family and the entire community for their support.

Polson is the school’s all-time leading scorer with 1884 points. He led West Jessamine to a 46th District Championship in four straight seasons and to the 12th Region Championship in two straight seasons, tallying 482 assists and 429 rebounds during his high school career. In his senior season he was named First Team All-State.
