• Welcome to Jackson's sixth
    NOB Recuiting Journal Entry.

In this edition Jackson talks about how the Lafayette Generals season is going, playing in the Toyota Classic, and all the schools that he has heard from lately.

    Enjoy!

We played in the Toyota Classic this past weekend. Lost two games by a total of six points, both to teams ranked higher than us. I made the All-Tournament team and got a defensive player of the game award, but It would have been even more fun to win.

After our 52-50 victory last night against Dunbar, we are in 1st place in our district and ranked #21 in the state. Woo hoo! That’s pretty crazy when you consider we started the season 0-3, and are still a couple of games below .500. Coach has always said that our schedule would pay off in February. We will play anybody, anywhere, at any time. Our goal of a championship is within reach, but it doesn’t get any easier from here on out. Everyone in Kentucky knows we are for real now.

Going back to last night, I think the best part is that even though I had an ok game (9pts, 9rbs, 6blks), for the first time all year we won without me leading us in scoring or rebounding - those honors went to Nick Trisko (14pts, 17rbs) and Charles Sweat-Washington (14pts).

Teams can’t key in on me so much anymore. I have help now. Big time help. I haven’t weighed myself in a while, but I think I’m getting bigger, or my clothes are getting smaller. One or the other. Uniform’s kinda tight now, too. My dad makes me drink an extra large milkshake every night before I go to bed. He drinks some of it with me, but I don’t think he needs it. Ha!

On the recruiting trail, an assistant coach from the University of Michigan is flying down to see me workout today. Poor guy. It’s our short day and we only have the court for 45 minutes. He has been warned though. Also heard from some Big East schools this past couple of weeks; Georgetown, Pitt, and Syracuse. And I heard a scout from Cincinnati was in the stands last night, too. Hakuna Matata!
