It seems no one can get under the skin of the media and opposing fans like Coach Cal. As big blue fans we appreciate the fact that Calipari is charitable, always on the road recruiting, trying to promote the Kentucky basketball brand and lets be honest, all of the number one recruiting classes don't hurt. I also believe that the majority of us like the fact that he doesn't back down from a fight.
Since Cal has been at UK, we have experienced accusations about Eric Bledsoe and his grades, taken verbal bashings from Bob Knight regarding players going to class, as well as the constant talk that Calipari can't coach....he just rolls the ball out and lets them play right?
Last night via twitter, our favorite basketball coach decided to share a little secret with his followers about the meaning of "radio silence."
And he followed it up this morning with this tweet:
In essence Cal basically hints that when there is a positive, uplifting story about the Cats, the coverage or chatter is limited. Obviously hinting at the negative light that is often cast upon the program, even though typically untrue or unproven, is what people seem to focus on.
As a fan, you can't help but probably agree, Kentucky sells therefore Kentucky is headline material, one way or the other. I for one and happy Cal spoke out, doesn't bother me one bit. I like the fact that our Coach is willing to fight for our program and doesn't back down with his tail between his legs. What are your thoughts big blue nation?
