John Calipari Stays Busy Recruiting over the Weekend
John Calipari will officially begin the Christmas Break portion of Camp Cal starting today after a busy recruiting weekend where he watched several top 2014 recruits.
One of those recruits, Karl Towns, has already committed to Kentucky, and it sounds like he put on a show for his future head coach.
Karl Towns had 18 points, 14 rebounds, and five blocked shots as the St. Joseph-Metuchen boys basketball team edged Teaneck 67-66 in overtime at the Tip-Off Hoop Group Classic in West Orange.
On Saturday, Cal went to Indianapolis to watch 2014s Trey Lyles and Cliff Alexander face off in the Indy Legacy Indiana vs. Illinois Showcase.
Some outsiders labeled the game as Tech’s Trey Lyles vs. Curie’s Cliff Alexander. Lyles is a Rivals.com five-star recruit who originally committed to play for Indiana but has since reopened his recruiting. Alexander is also a Rivals.com five-star recruit.
Lyles finished with a game-high 24 points, while Alexander had 18 points and five rebounds. The hype of a potential 1-on-1 matchup never materialized due to the lopsided nature of the game, along with Lyles’ intent to get teammates involved, as he scored just eight points in the decisive first half.
