Right now, sure Rondo is better than John but when Rondo was in College you couldn't really tell because he didn't develop as quickly as John I don't think

Okay, if the question is "who is the best point guard in the last 20 years for the Wildcats", I have to say without a doubt Wayne Turner. I am a huge John Wall fan and will go as far as to say that Rondo is great NOW. But John Wall comes no where near touching WT, and RR didn't have that great of a career at UK. Yes he has blown up in his NBA career but it wasn't like that at UK while he was there. So clearly WT has it with playing in 3 championship games, winning two of them, and appearing in 4 final fours. Hands down WT 4 sure....IMHOGO CATS!

Kentucky was playing a no name team when he set that assist record. And for the record, he didn't really have any real clutch shots. The Mississippi State game was the only one that meant anything. Yeah he hit the buzzer beater against Miami (OH) but that was a no name team. Wayne Turner has something that John Wall will never have: Championships. 2 of them to be exact. He has a better assist to turnover ratio as well. Wall was good, but most certainly not the best.
Man you must really not like Wall, LOL. Yea it's true he got that assists record of 16 in a game against Hartford in a route of 104-61. Wall did however set the single season assist record by getting 241 in a season and is way above second place Brandon Knight who ending with about 160 i believe. Wall did however have some clutch shots/plays for example, these are facts. In his first game against Miami Ohio he of course hit a buzzer beater, then the layup to beat Stanford, the "and 1" layup against UCONN in MSG, a block on a three point attempt at the buzzer to beat Vandy(at Vandy), a clutch three pointer in the SEC title game against Mississippi State, he hit some clutch free throws and i'm sure i forgot one or two more plays. I do agree that Wayne Turner is the more celebrated "college" player of the two but i think you gotta give Wall more credit than you are. Sure he would of been the greatest ever maybe if he stayed 3 or 4 years but unfortunately people don't stay that long these days when they are so talented, and the one thing UK always has had is talented players. I agree Wall is not the best "UK" college player ever but he might very well turn out to be the best to go pro from UK. He sure has a chance too.

can't see how you put wall above turner.. career marks career achievements.. one and done players will never be the best in my eyes because they never sustained success. U can guess and say well they would of this and that, but fact is even two year players like mashburn and king rex proved they were more than a one year fluke. If u put wall up there why not put jasper? he was a one year player.. played through injury.. about the same thing to me.
I love John Wall, I just hate the one and done more. There is no way that you can show that you are the best in just one season, and you didn't even win a title. Man, Stevie Wonder could've set the assist record if he had all the high profile talent surrounding him like Wall did. I don't consider free-throws to be clutch. That is something that nobody should ever shoot less that 75%. Lay-ups aren't really clutch either. That is something that anybody can make, especially with the blow by speed of Wall. Wall scored the teams last 19 points against UCONN in MSG, proving that he wasn't clutch, but that he just didn't want to pass the ball at that point. Wall is a great player, and will be a greater player. But you have said it in a different post, you can't be great based on just one season. Therefore, his career is not as great as Wayne Turner's.

Just to be fair here, the only player you can say is John Wall. He single handedly made UK PG-school with the help of Cal. He instantly made UK the cool school. He broke records. He hit game winners. He did it all. No one PG has been more polarizing at UK in the last 2 decades. Not even close. Especially with his learning curve of being a freshman. This kid is going to be a NBA hall of famer.
Its John Wall has wahat it takes to be one of the best point guards of the modern era of basketball. Travis Ford was is still my favorite too though...
Anyone putting others over Wall is simply beig a homer of an old timer. Any of those guys on that list would have a near impossible time stopping Wall except MAYBE rondo.
I agree with CiprianZisu, other than Rondo nobody could have stopped Wall. But with that said Wall didn't win a championship. Many times in sports we measure things by how many titles someone has garnered. Everyone says Lebron isn't as good as Kobe because he has no titles. So really using that I think Saul Smith was a pretty good one. He wasn't the best, wasn't the most athletic, wasn't the best shooter, ball handler, passer, etc. but HE GOT THE JOB DONE!
With that said, the best PG to ever go through UK has got to be John Wall. He transformed the way the game is played. His athleticism, speed and big game play making ability is leaps and bounds beyond everyone else.
Is the question who had the best UK career or who ended being the best player? BC a lot were great while here but Rondo has turned into an amazing player. He has unbelievable court vision and his basketball IQ is top 5 in the league.
