As a part of a series called Recruit Confidential, ESPN spoke with 25 of the nation's top 100 basketball recruits. They asked questions about everything from what takes place on recruiting visits, to being offered cash to sign a National Letter of Intent. Of the 25, 7 said they had been offered illegal benefits.

One recruit said "One day I was working out in the gym with my dad, and some guy who was a booster came over, and he basically offered my dad $100,000 for me to go there."

I don't believe that quote ... at all. For one, why would a booster be willing to put up $100,000? Is he scalping tickets outside the arena? How would a booster see any return from such an investment?

    It's ridiculous.
