Five star recruit Devonta Pollard has cut his list to five and it doesn't appear Kentucky is on the list.

Scout.com is reporting that Pollard has listed Alabama, Mississippi State, Texas, Georgetown, and Missouri.

The NextCats twitter account tweeted a couple of quotes Pollard had about Kentucky from the Scout.com article.

"UK produces pros but if you go & you aren't ready to be drafted in 1 or 2 years then you will have to stay there 2 or 3 more years." "And if you don't like the school and have to stay more than a year, then it's not going to work out."

Looks like there is a good shot we could see a lot of Pollard in the future, with 3 teams from the SEC on his final 5.

Kentucky will be focusing on Shabazz Muhammad and Anthony Bennett in my opinion to fill out the 2012 class. They will also have an outside chance at Jarnell Stokes and Amile Jefferson.

Sounds to me as if, he doesn't believe enough in himself to be good enough to go to the NBA in less than 2 years, if that's the case, I don't care if he comes or not. I want kids to come to UK that have a winning attitude and the desire to become better basketball players as soon as possible. If he feels like it will take him 4-5 years to be good enough to make it in the NBA, then maybe UK isn't the place for him anyways.

if you don't like Kentucky for basketball, you shouldn't even think about Alabama, Mississippi State, Texas, Georgetown, or Missouri. All are football schools except Georgetown, which went a whopping 21-11 last year and exited the NCAA Tournament in the 1st round.

I concur with SeanBratcher - this couldn't doesn't believe that he could succeed at Kentucky. And if he thinks he can be developed as a pro more quickly at these other 5 schools, he needs to think harder...

I can't agree more with the statments above. It looks as if my prediction that UK would land Pollard is wrong. However it looks as in this case that it's good to be wrong. The attitude thing is a big factor for me. If you don't have the attitude you won't last at UK. Just look at this years UK team- it has attitude written all over it (GREAT). Also I'm going to throw in the mix that UCLA is doing a major job in decreasing their chances of landing Shabazz. I'm sorry but their performance, kids attitude is PISS POOR! UCLA keep up the good work, and just increase the momentum that we already had with Shabazz! Pollard I wish you much luck in your future, but will come out and state I feel bad for you when you play UK next year because their going to be great.

Basically he sounds like he doesn't believe he is good enough to stand out at UK to me. If so it will be easy for him to shine on some level at those other not so great schools listed.
