Joker Phillips had some interesting comments about the Kentucky fan base yesterday.

But not all of it was positive. In fact, for the last two weeks, all Joker Phillips and his players have heard is the negative. Without playing a game to get the last four out of their minds, fans are still very down on this football team. Joker has decided he doesn't care.

"I'm not interested in showing the public anything," said the UK head coach on Thursday.

"We're interested in going about our business the right way. We're going about our business what we think is the best way to go about our business. We want to show improvement for us. I'm not trying to impress anybody outside this building."

While Joker says he wants students and fans to come in droves early to Commonwealth Stadium on Saturday, he can't listen to them anymore. He says his players can't either.

Maybe stupid comment syndrome is catching in Kentucky.

    First Pitino, now Joker.

Why would anyone not care about the fans that help pay his salary?

When exactly did Joker say he doesn't CARE about the fans? What he actually said was the he and his players can't listen to the negativetly from the fans. He was nicer than I would've been ... so-called fans calling for his head and berating the players is absolutely uncalled for and I applaud Joker for encouraging the team not to listen and I applaud him for focusing on what's important to the TEAM. Handling the "fans" with kid-gloves is not his job, and is not something he should have to deal with. BBN needs to take a note from what our mother's taught us long ago ... if you don't have something nice to say, then don't say anything at all! I, for one, am a proud member of BBN and will sitck by our football program, and Joker Phillips, through all the ugly transitions and nasty rebuilding process ... change doesn't occur overnight! Progress has been happening, if anyone bothered to look closely enough ... just because it's not showing up on the scoreboard yet, doesn't mean we aren't making positive strides!

Positive strides? Can you please give me some examples of those please?

Just wondering so I could write those down because being next to last in total offense in the entire nation doesn't sound positive.

Its one thing to support Joker ignoring the negativity, but another to say we shouldn't complain.

I am as Blue-Blooded as anyone you will ever meet. I've followed UK sports my entire life, like many people in this great state. Where would we be if we never questioned our leaders? Blind faith in a coach that has shown me nothing positive is how progress is drove straight into the ground. The UK football program had made serious strides to improve from mediocrity the past few years, but Joker has done nothing but move the program in the other direction. If you ask me, he was the reason the 07 team didn't live up to their potential. His play calling was horrible while he was off. coordinator, and continues to be horrible now. I thought having Sanders as the play caller would improve things, but Joker is obviously controlling things as the same predictable trends are being used.

Its not ALL Joker's fault, I agree. The receivers cant catch a pass - but that just makes you wonder what in the world they do at practice?

With that being said, that's all the praise I'll give to Joker. He ran off Mossakowski, a QB that would have better fit the system he wanted to implement - obviously a stupid move. I dont know if the receivers would have been any better, but we wouldn't be any worse thats for sure. He also seems to make stupid in game decisions. Like NOT calling a timeout at the end of the half against Central Michigan. Our offense was struggling, and our defense had the opportunity to force them to punt out of their own endzone before halftime - but they just let the clock go down, content without setting a spark for our team.

Please enlighten us to the positive strides that you are referring. Maybe you can convince me of what my eyes and common sense keep telling me.

The ONLY positives I see this year in UK football has almost always been a positive the last few years is the kickers. They have truly performed at high standards MOST of the time. The rest, especially this year, has been abysmal at best and down right pathetic the rest of the time.
While Joker isnt the one catching, throwing passes, handing off or blocking, He is the HEAD coach and RECRUITED most of these players. So I place the blame Squarely on his shoulders. We had FINALLY got the team to a level that a top name coach would have considered this as a good opportunity. Now we are back to being bottom feeders of the SEC. Thanks a lot Mr Phillips. Cant call you coach because you ARE NOT one. Go to somewhere small and LEARN how to coach!

I would like to see UK gain some confidence today. Stick to a short pass game 4,5,6, yard completions keep the ball moving get the running game into it. Keep the game simple. The receivers can catch they are concentrating so much on catching the ball I think it has turned into fear of dropping and they are nervous when there number is called. I have never seen Wideout's drop so many passes. They can still pull it together this year. Joker needs to keep this team inspired and fired up on the sideline. Personally I think he looks scared on the sideline and out of his comfort zone.
