Doesn't matter how good the other guys are. This is Miller's team. He seemed to grow into the leadership role last year. Is he good enough to lead the team to a national championship? I think so. But I don't think a team primarily based on freshmen can win a national championship. That's the ultimate problem with the "one and done" players. They can get close, like last year's team. But to win it all takes a solid core of veteran players. You saw the veteran players put the team on their backs and carry them to the final 4 last year. Miller is it this year. If he improves enough to carry the team to a championship he will deserve to be NCAA player of the year.

I agree with you that a team needs a solid core of veteran players (especially ones with NCAA tournament experience.)
I think this year's team is more experienced than last years. We have 8 non-freshman compared to 5 last year. Miller, Jones, and Lamb will provide a core of, not just role players but, guys who saw significant minutes and all played major roles in a Final Four run. Last year, Liggins, Miller and Harrelson were the vets but they had not been the drivers of the team before like these guys. Miller will hopefully play an anchor role on this team, but I don't think it is all on him a la Kemba Walker. If it were, our prospects would not be as bright. We have been waiting for him to break out, and coming into his Sr. year have not seen it yet. Honestly, his numbers on the USA team have not been the kind that would support expectations of a major difference to me. It is August and I do hope Miller comes up. I want to see SEC tournament Miller. But we have plenty of other weapons so production is not the only way he has to lead this team. I just don't want to hear 'Disaperius' all year and I'll be happy. With Miller that is, with UK I just want to see a title hung in Rupp and I'll be happy. I don't think that 'One and Done' talent is necessary to win a championship. I don't think it means you can't either. Reminder: We were carried to the Final Four by Brandon Knight as much as Josh Harrelson, perhaps more so.

You don't have to be vocal to lead a team, leading by example works just as well. Mash wasn't vocal but was a good leader. As was Delk and Prince. This year I think Miller and Lamb will be example leaders with thr rah-rah from Teague and MGK.

I hope Miller can lead but with the talent we have it won't be as important as it would to a less talented team.

Who was the player who made the basket to keep the greatest basketball program of all time from a perfect season. ( Hint.. he now washes cars that belong to 8 players from that team...)
