Go Cats'
"They had it before, they had it during you, they'll have it when you're gone."--Al McGuire on the tradition of Kentucky basketball
Thanks! Been awhile since I have checked in. Need to stay caught up since UK looks like it is on a collision course with the National Championship. GO CATS!
Just got hooked up here on NOB. I've been listening to the podcast for a while now and love 'em. GO BIG BLUE!
Thanks for the ASeaofBlue fan site. I didn't know about this until I seen your post.
Great to be here! I've been reading the site and listening to the podcasts for a while but just joined today!
Great to be here. Looking forward to great BBN discussions
I'm a newbie from Knoxville, TN. I have no real ties to the state of Kentucky, but I love watching the 'Cats beat the snot of their opposition. As a sports fan, I was brought up to be a New York Yankees fan; every other team I have ever followed has been secondary according to my father. I do follow Tennessee and Ohio State in football; the Chicago Bears in the NFL; the Chicago Blackhawks and Bulls in the NHL and NBA, respectively: and Kentucky in men's basketball, even though I do hold a soft spot in my heart for Tennessee basketball since UT is, of course, my university.
My dad has always told me that I should follow a team that wants to win as much as I do. That bit of logic comes from way back when my great-great uncle Ralph helped raise him on the farm in West Knoxville; hence, why I am a huge fan of the Yankees and of Kentucky basketball. To me, anything less than competing and winning championships at sports is unacceptable. Why, then, would a team even bother to compete in sports if it didn't seek to win a championship? Sure, there is the bit about building character, but I don't think anyone ever looked up to a gracious loser. I don't believe in pulling for teams for the sake of pulling for them. They have to be trying to win as badly as I want the team to win, and, again, that's why I pull for the New York Yankees and the University of Kentucky in basketball. (Okay, so UCLA has more championships, but they haven't been very dominant in the years following John Wooden, nor were they that way before him and in the first half of his career.)
But anyway, that's me on my soapbox, and now I will gracefully step down...lol. My name is Jonathan, and it's a pleasure to be on here with other fellow Kentucky fans.
Long time lurker, finally decide to register.
Welcome to the club, kyhoopsgoat!
