Volunteers suggest Calipari Rigged the Referees

On Monday, Kentucky Coach John Calipari suggested referees call games tightly to prevent opponents from getting too physical with his freshman-oriented team. Apparently, the referees got the message as UK made 24 of 27 free throws, while Tennessee made five of seven Tuesday night. When asked whether the refs acted on Calipari’s suggestion, UT forward Jeronne Maymon said, “They were probably on the phone with him.”

why is it that every team that complains about Kentucky and Coach Cal sounds like Louisville fans.

Give me a break....Guess UT had to come up with some reason they got beat down so bad by UK.

Not to mention after all the temper flare-ups in the first half, the refs had no choice but to be quick on the whistle to maintain order. That's the consequences of being too mouthy too early in the game.

They are lucky the refs didn't call all the fouls. Kentucky should have shot 50 free throws. The refs and that lucky Woolridge saved it from getting really ugly.

Teams that lack talent try to make up for it with thuggery, LSU and TN are prime examples. Refs know when a team resorts to play that is centered on taking the talent from the other team by hard foul after hard foul. Davis is much tougher than either team knows.

Ok if the calls were slanted towards UK, what was with all the "charge" calls where they slid under our guys not even close to being in a defensive position? That's the intelligence I would expect from a UT player.

I agree with Cal. UT players played like THUGS, did they expect to just get away without a foul being called against them??!!! If all these opposing teams' coaches are telling their players to be physical with Kentucky, then it looks as if the opposing players are interpreting that to mean beat the h*ll out of them anyway you can to try and hurt them enough to put them out of the game!! IF this is what is meant by physical play, then the coaches need to be fired!!! To me, being physical means playing tough posting up inside putting a body on players to cause a player to have to adjust his shot and hopefully not score, or guarding a player real close without being rough. I think this is what Coach Cal has trying to get across to the 'Cats, but not to slap, push and shove, elbow players in the mouth, head or chest, or shove them to the floor real hard, as the way LSU and TN played. I thought basketball was a non-contact sport! This has to be stopped before a player really gets hurt and possibly injured enough to not be able to go pro.
