    UK Officially #1

It's official, UK is #1 in the nation. What an incredible 19 game turn-around from last season.

Texas was defeated by Kansas State which leaves Kentucky as the only undefeated team in the nation and with a win on Saturday will officially place the Wildcats as #1. Although this is an incredible statement, it also brings a lot of uncertaintly and nervousness to some people. Vote in this poll to let us know how you feel.

Edited post to reflect OFFICIAL placement in the polls.

    Re: UK Unofficially #1

I'm torn between being #1 and not deserving it.

We're young and I believe all the hype has finally started to set in on John Wall because he hasn't played as well as he had been for awhile now. But I really would like to be #1 again, because I forgot what it felt like and I believe the fan base deserves it because we've been put through so much mediocrity.

Still have to win Saturday though.

I had been pondering that as well; We tend to have a large lead going into the half, then blow it mid way through the last half. At about the five minute mark everything changes and we end up have a double digit lead.

I'm not saying that I wholeheartedly believe it, but it seems like that has been happening some.

It's an interesting thought, but also kind of hard to believe that they would allow anyone to stay close enough during a game to have a chance to win. You can toy if you want to but eventually something is going to happen that would make you regret toying. Due to that it seems too risky to even chance it.

i think we deserve for to be #1 and that we definatley can be arkansas on saturday (dont get to cocky though arkansas can be good when they want to and their gona want another try at toppelin an undefeated team). but i dont really like bein number one, i think that havin those teams that are ranked higher than you gives you somethin to stirive for. i mean some of our best games have been against closley ranked teams who could have beaten us if we didnt have that competetive edge. we did good on our 2000th win cause we had that to strive for, we do against top 15 ranked teams cause we know they have a chance of beatin us, we try hard in the games so we dont lose to become number one, theres not as much to strive for though after we get to number one. i think our performance might drop alittle cause we'll get cocky but once we get defeated or tournament starts we'll kill and go to the final four. what do you guys think?

There are so many possible outcomes to being number one, and just as man possible outcomes as there are, there are different opinions to being number 1. You mention a lot of valid points though. But a flip side is that they could work harder to stay in the top spot even though they can't go any higher.

thats a good point, i do still think that since they are such a young team, and havent expierenced any kind of defeat or upset yet, that putting them in that number one spot would put a state of mind in them that their undefeatable and that another good team might sneak up and knock us of that pedastool, not because we dont have the talent, but because of our lack of expirence (especially in the SEC, that where we'll probablly get knocked down i think. Tenesee is gona want another glory game) and that excessive pride we might have in ourselves. if we stay level headed and know that we're not invincible and that there are teams that can beat us then we might go undefeated though. and also thanks! Thanks for taking the time to register and share your thoughts with us.

I think your right that a lack of experience could be the straw that breaks the camels back. Patterson brings the only real experience and Miller brings a touch but that's really the sum of it. Hopefully what little experience the freshman have gained this year will be enough to carry them through the tougher/sneakier opponents they will face this year.

yeah, from what i've seen theres been a couple times where patterson's expirence has stopped pur opponent from gaining a decent advantage and then we were able to come back. if all of our freshman stay this year then i have no doubt that we can beat pretty much anybody next year and probablly the year after that if they stay for 2 years, cause then we'll have that good mix of expirence and and our talent will increase with the continued practice.

I personally don't like being number 1, but I do know that the Cats can handle the pressure involved with being number one. My opinion though hasn't changed and the game at Tennessee does concern me.

I think that these guys have had tremendous pressure on them since the beginning of the season. I don't mind seeing the #1 ranking at all!!
