Thread: Is UCONN now a rival?

Well Cat fans it's the off season now and since there not as much news i'm going to start some new Polls. This one is a question about rivals. After UCONN beating us twice this year, once by 17 points and then the second time to take our 8th title from us. Do you NOB now consider UCONN a rival? and Why? Now remember a rival doesn't nesscarily have to be a team we play every year, like Duke for example. I know i cant wait until we play again to get some revenge, just too bad that "cocky" Kemba Walker won't be there to taste it. It is sweet though that UK put it on UCONN and Kemba in 2009 at MSG, now that was sweet.

i don't see uconn as a rival... not really any connection to them.. yeah they got us two times this year but they are a long way from blue blood of college basketball . they don;t have a history other than calhoun cheating his way to titles.. i don;t feel the animosity toward them that normally comes with a rival.. when u think Louisville tennessee Duke indiana .. i just don't get the same feeling in my gut that i do for those schools when i say uconn.

To me there not a rival but i team i've never really liked and i like them even less now. I think UCONN was hot in Maui and we were not playing as a team yet and then in the Final Four we really beat our self again. To me it was clear that UK was the better overall team in that game and the whole Final Four.

To me, a rivalry implies a long history. UConn's basketball history goes back about 10 years. And their history with us doesn't go back much further than 09' in the Garden. I don't see their run lasting much longer than Calhoun's liver, which only has a few more good years. We definitely owe them a whooping though...

I don't consider UConn a rival. I believe there has to be history between two programs in order for it to be a rivalry. We've only played UConn a handful of times. I believe it's too small of a sample to consider them rivals just yet. However, that doesn't mean they won't become a rival in the near future.

I don't consider them a rival and their run is about done. After Calhoun is gone the run is done. The NCAA works in mysterious ways like the way we met WVU in the second round in the tourney it was pretty sweet putting them out. I was hoping and thought we would send Uconn packing last season but we went cold from the outside and free throw line. Louisville and Indiana are the only true rivals we have you can state a case for UNC and most people do consider them to be rivals.

Not really. I think I have some left over resentment for them because of last year's Final Four, but not enough to consider them a rival. It's hard to consider a team a rival when we don't play them every year.
