The Kentucky coach’s recent success has been attributed to his recruiting, not his coaching. But recruiting alone can’t explain the development of this young group. Anthony Davis’ offense. Marquis Teague’s improvement. And even though the Wildcats’ next-level offense has received most of the credit this season, they’re playing great defense (fifth in Ken Pomeroy’s adjusted defensive efficiency ratings). Yes, Calipari has an outstanding assembly of talent. But they’ve been molded into America’s top team by Calipari and his staff.

Kentucky fans know Cal can coach, but the rest of the world thinks he traded his soul for success like some blues guitarist at the crossroads. This year the consensus does seem to be changing, though. And if he brings home a title, perhaps then, the college basketball world will have to come to terms with the fact as well.

On February 26, 2011, after Kentucky beat the Florida Gators in Rupp Arena, Calipari was recognized for his 500th career victory as a Division I Men's Basketball Coach. Over the course of the next few months, the NCAA's Committee on Infractions (COI) and the University of Kentucky exchanged letters debating the fact in Calipari has indeed reached the 500 win milestone. Due to the two vacated seasons (One at UMass and one at Memphis), the NCAA recognizes only 491 wins (as of February 7th, 2012). On June 13th, 2011, Eamonn Brennan, of espn.com, broke the story on a College Basketball Blog and revealed that Calipari and other Kentucky officials may have to appear before the COI for the celebration previously mentioned and lack of compliance.^[26]

I was wrong..anyway when your the best in the bizz you always have some horses ass trying to be negative..Funny that Cal has never been issued a single violation in his career. Noone can control these jerks that come after these kids with $$$. But to say a coach is dirty because a pimp gets to one of his kids is completely idiotic..One can only control himself.. He does that quite well. Now to say that UK has cheated in the past, have at it. You will get no defense from me. Cal is clean.. If people would stop and think for about 5 seconds they would understand that we dont have to cheat. We get our pick of the best and have to turn 5 star after 5 star away..Cal makes more millionaires than the mexican drug cartel.
