Thread: Could Marquis Teague be Selfish?

Marquis Teague has been having a rough go of it early on being the point guard for Kentucky.

Jeff Goodman spoke to Shawn and Jeff Teague about Marquis' tribulations of being a Calipari point guard and one quote kind of grabbed me.

Check this out and tell me if you don't think Jeff, his brother, thinks Marquis is being selfish with the basketball.

Jeff Teague and his father, Shawn, both agreed that it'll take some time for Marquis to acclimate himself to playing with so much talent -- and also having to play in a system, rather than just having to come down and make a play.

"I keep trying to tell him to just worry about running the team and don't worry about your individual stats," Jeff Teague said. "But young guys worry about that stuff. It's tough for him when he sees guys like Gilchrist and Anthony Davis putting up these numbers."

"He's thinking too much," added Shawn Teague.

Sounds like they think he is selfish to me.

Did you ever think that Brandon Knight and John Wall were ever selfish with the basketball?

When i see Teague make a pass he always looks like he hesitates before the pass. I believe Teague is thinking to much as well and not reacting. Several times in the last 2 games I thought he was hesitant to pass in difficult situations. It will take time since Teague is still learning the offense and to his credit he has cut down the turns. He is very dynamic and has shown flashes of how good he can be. It is still early in the season this will be a different team in March.

I believe Brandon Knight was selfish at the beginning of the year and learned to spread the ball around. He was very intelligent. John Wall was only selfish when the game was on the line. Then he had a tendency to take over. They were both fantastic players. Teague will improve.

I never thought of Brandon Knight being selfish because I wanted him to shoot. He could shoot. I have no reason to believe yet that Marquis Teague can.
