Chris Dortch thinks Anthony Davis COULD (!?!!!) go near top of NBA Draft

Chris Dortch has a nice piece on Anthony Davis for NBA.com, even if the title leaves a little to be desired. "Its no reach to see UK shot-blocker Davis near top of draft."

We'll set that aside for a moment, and take a look at what Dortch has to say.

It's impossible to truly appreciate how long Kentucky freshman Anthony Davis is until you see him up close. You might gain an even greater appreciation of Davis' Plastic Man dimensions after he's smashed one of your shots downward at a considerably faster rate of speed than it was launched.

In coaching parlance, Davis is a "plus six," meaning his 7-foot-4 wingspan is six inches longer than his 6-foot-10 body. Combined with his leaping ability and an innate sense of timing that allows him to wait out an opponent's fakes, those arms have become the biggest defensive weapon in college basketball and, very possibly, will make Davis the No. 1 pick in the NBA Draft in June.

I like the imagery Dortch opens with, my question is, who would possibly be taken before Davis? Answer, no one. Not even close.

One thing's for certain. the Uniblocker has certainly lived up to the hype. I've seen shot block specialists before, but none like Davis. Most of the specialists are usually one dimensional. But Davis, he can rebound, he can score facing and away from the basket. And the scary thing is? He's going to get better. He's out of this world, and there's not one college basketball player in the land who has more upside than he does.

ESPN should go ahead and create their Anthony Davis Draft Lottery Random Generator now, save themselves the time.
