Jeff Goodman and Gary Parrish put there heads together... and are recognized as representing the largest mass of open unused space in America.
They updated their Player of the Year watch for CBS sports and dropped Anthony Davis a spot due to a dip in his points production. This demonstrates to me that these guys don't even know why he is on the list in the first place or recognize why he should be no less than #2 if that. No one else on this list is doing the type of historic things that Davis is. And I'm not just talking about blocking alot of shots, but being such an efficient and intelligent basketball player as well.
This week everyone from Ken Pomeroy to my grandmother has recognized that Davis is a player so special that he is not just the Player of the Year, but the last 3 decades. I digress...
Here is what Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels, er, Goodman and Parrish had to say about Davis and Michael Kidd-Gilchrist, who was also on the list at #7.
Davis has only averaged 7.5 points in the past two games -- wins against Alabama and Georgia. However, the long and versatile freshman‘s impact isn‘t measured by the points he puts on the board. He grabbed 20 rebounds in the past two games, blocked nine shots and changes the game on the defensive end.
It‘s difficult to put up eye-popping numbers on a team loaded with talent like the Wildcats, but MKG is still managing to impress just about every time out. He averaged 13.5 points and 8.5 boards in a pair of wins over Alabama and Georgia and has a motor that rivals just about anyone in the country.
