College GameDay Built by The Home Depot (Saturday at 9 a.m. ESPNU; 10 a.m. ESPN)
A Tailgating Tradition
Tailgating is as big a tradition in college football as the game itself. College GameDay toured the country and found the best food, most scenic spots and most interesting personalities from around the biggest tailgate spots in the nation. From barbequing gators in Louisiana to cocktail dresses in Ole Miss and 100 foot yachts at the University of Washington – ESPN reporter Chris Connelly goes inside tailgating like no one ever has before.
The Big Ragoo – LSU Tailgater
“It's about food, good food... Jambalaya, pastalaya, seafood dishes, all the stuff you see here.”
“Gator meat is kind of like chicken, a chicken taste… People have a specialty dish and they take pride in what they cooking.”
Joe Cahn – Pro Tailgater
“Tailgating is the new American social, maybe we sometimes think of it as a very big block party... If Norman Rockwell were alive today he would be depicting this whole tailgating scene.”
Curtis Wilkie – Ole Miss Tailgater
“It's a family reunion, it's like a class reunion. There is a saying around here "we may lose the game, but we've never lost the party yet.”
A Sit-down with Alabama’s Trent Richardson
Coach Saban on Trent Richardson
“I think he is a relentless competitor, I think he is a tough guy, I think he’s trying score every time he gets it. I mean he’s… you’re gonna have to be a full grown man to get him on the ground.”
The Literal Hat of Les Miles
Since Les Miles became LSU’s head coach in 2005, he’s brought one constant to the sideline each week during every season. ESPN’s Erin Andrews sits down with Miles to discuss his signature white hat that sits atop his head every game he coaches for the Tigers.
“My fashion statement: consistency. I started my career with a hat,” said Miles. “I want my team to see the same guy on the sideline, year after year, game after game.”
