• ESPN named their NBA All Rookie team today and the teams had some Big Blue flavor.

John Wall was on the 1st team.

Patrick Patterson and DeMarcus Cousins surprisingly were on the 2nd team.

ESPN also laid out the top contenders for Rookie of the Year.
    1. Blake Griffin, Clippers: The dunks, the scoring, the rebounding, the athleticism -- this has to be one of the most anticlimatic Rookie of the Year races ever. Just like at the dunk contest, he closed the show in style, notching a triple-double in his season finale. [/B]
    2. John Wall, Wizards: He became the first Wizards rookie to record 1,000 points, 500 assists and 100 steals in a season.
    3. DeMarcus Cousins, Kings: He had a very good rookie campaign but once again proved that the scouting report on him -- talented but immature -- was correct. He erupted for a career-high 30 points (he also had nine rebounds) in a loss to the Thunder on Monday night. Then, on Wednesday, he received two technical fouls and was ejected against the Lakers.
    4. Greg Monroe, Pistons: If there was an award for the most improved rookie, Monroe would win the honor easily.
(tie) 5. Landry Fields, Knicks and Jordan Crawford, Wizards: Fields was considered the steal of the draft because of his outstanding rebounding and overall play before the Carmelo Anthony trade.

The surprising part for me is that Boogie can be 3rd on the watch list for Rookie of the Year, but he can't make the 1st team for the All Rookie Team...Interesting.

It would have to be somewhat based on the immature behavior, the technicals and ejections.

Wall didn't have a good team, Cousins needed someone to keep him in check, and Patterson SHOULD be a started for Houston, Bledsoe will be a great utility player for years (but never a star), Orton will likely never see any NBA action.

If I were the Wizards, I would trade the whole damn team to get Cousins in D.C. We saw it in the Rookie/Sophomore game and here at UK, there is someting special about Wall and Cousins playing together. Wall could create for Cousins, and help keep his head on straight. Walls numbers go up, Cousins numbers go up, teams win total goes up.
