    Dear Patrick Patterson,

Where has this outside game come from all of the sudden?!?! It's pretty exciting when you step out behind the 3-point line these days. Will he shoot it or is he just opening up the floor for the other big men? It's great anticipation for us fans as we know it's going to lead to something great. An open inside court for Cousins or Orton or you nailing the three. Three of four against Vanderbilt...that's incredible for 6'-9" forward who hit 0% from downtown during his first two years.

Enough about the 3-pointers, I wanted to write you this letter today to let you know that you are and always have been very much appreciated by this Nation of Blue. I can only imagine the pressure that you feel being the most experienced starter for the Wildcats. The expectation of the fans, the coaching staff and even the haters is so high the weight you carry must be tremendous. Those expectations probably seem impossible at times, especially when people pass judgement like "your not playing your hardest" and "Patterson isn't giving the team what they need from him" and on and on and on. Heavy criticism is posted all over the internet and even on your own Facebook page. Unbelievable is all I can say.

From this fans perspective, just overlook it Patrick. Listen to what your fans are saying but don't take it personal and definitely don't take any of it negatively. Even when fans cross the line, which they do, it's out of passion and never out of hate. It's amazing that people can feel so much anger at times towards people they don't even know just because a game was lost or because someone isn't scoring 20 points a game. At the end of the day they are fans and will always hold you with the highest regards and respect.

What you bring to the court is very unique and very appreciated. Outside of the domination you are capable of in the paint and even the new outside game you have shown, your bring maturity and full composure each and every game. When things are going great you get excited but remain composed. When things are going foul you get frustrated but remain composed. When your fellow players need leadership you provide it while remaining composed. That leadership and maturity will take you further than 100 double-double's. That is what we all enjoy about your game more than anything.

21 games into the 2009-2010 season you are scoring 15.5 points per game, 8 rebounds per game and shooting 37% from 3-point range. Those stats along with your always professional demeanor make you the role model for the Kentucky Wildcats and the perfect example for other coaches to model their players after. It has been a pure pleasure to watch you the last two seasons, this seasons and we hope that we will get to watch you in a Wildcat uniform next season.

Kind Regards from a Patrick Patterson fan,
    Scott Z. and...

Patrick ---- If everyone had the team attitude you have, the world would be a nicer place. It's truly so nice to see a young man be so responsible and mature to see the bigger picture ... willing to sacrifice your numbers for the better of the team.

I just wanted to say to never let anyone get you down, or ever make you feel bad about how you played. You, John, Eric, Demarus, and noone on the team, have anything to feel bad about. Your a wonderful player!! The Big Blue Nation will forever love you guys, and don't ever forget that. We have such strong love for you guys, and me being the fan I am, have never ever gotten to the point where I would ever bash a player, and I am a true blue fan! Don't let people that aren't true fans get you down! Just know that we love you, and one loss doesn't hurt anything! You do carry a lot all of you guys do, and all I can say to you and the rest of the team, is we thank you!! You are going to do well for yourself! Kentucky will always be a place that will support you!!! Good Luck in the NBA next year, and I'll be watching and cheering you on! You are loved in the Nation Of Blue Patrick! Best of luck Tuesday night!

You bring leadership and direction to a team of talented freshman which is seen every game. Your a true athlete and one of the best players to play the game in the NCAA. I respect you more than other players because your unselfish and all you care about is the win instead of personal stats, which is a rare quality in this day and age. As a true UK fan I thank you and Im proud all you gave to the University of Kentucky and this great state.

Patrick: As an elderly lady, I just want to tell you how much I admire you. You are a terrific basketball player. Not only that, I believe that you are a terrific PERSON. I have admired your consideration of others, both on and off the court. I believe that you have a tremendous future ahead of you, whether it be playing basketball or in another profession. There are always going to be people critizing you. When they do, say a little prayer for them, smile, hold your head up and go on. I would be proud to call you my son and I know that your Mother is proud of you, too. GO CATS!!!!!
