    Dear Patrick Patterson,

Where has this outside game come from all of the sudden?!?! It's pretty exciting when you step out behind the 3-point line these days. Will he shoot it or is he just opening up the floor for the other big men? It's great anticipation for us fans as we know it's going to lead to something great. An open inside court for Cousins or Orton or you nailing the three. Three of four against Vanderbilt...that's incredible for 6'-9" forward who hit 0% from downtown during his first two years.

Enough about the 3-pointers, I wanted to write you this letter today to let you know that you are and always have been very much appreciated by this Nation of Blue. I can only imagine the pressure that you feel being the most experienced starter for the Wildcats. The expectation of the fans, the coaching staff and even the haters is so high the weight you carry must be tremendous. Those expectations probably seem impossible at times, especially when people pass judgement like "your not playing your hardest" and "Patterson isn't giving the team what they need from him" and on and on and on. Heavy criticism is posted all over the internet and even on your own Facebook page. Unbelievable is all I can say.

From this fans perspective, just overlook it Patrick. Listen to what your fans are saying but don't take it personal and definitely don't take any of it negatively. Even when fans cross the line, which they do, it's out of passion and never out of hate. It's amazing that people can feel so much anger at times towards people they don't even know just because a game was lost or because someone isn't scoring 20 points a game. At the end of the day they are fans and will always hold you with the highest regards and respect.

What you bring to the court is very unique and very appreciated. Outside of the domination you are capable of in the paint and even the new outside game you have shown, your bring maturity and full composure each and every game. When things are going great you get excited but remain composed. When things are going foul you get frustrated but remain composed. When your fellow players need leadership you provide it while remaining composed. That leadership and maturity will take you further than 100 double-double's. That is what we all enjoy about your game more than anything.

21 games into the 2009-2010 season you are scoring 15.5 points per game, 8 rebounds per game and shooting 37% from 3-point range. Those stats along with your always professional demeanor make you the role model for the Kentucky Wildcats and the perfect example for other coaches to model their players after. It has been a pure pleasure to watch you the last two seasons, this seasons and we hope that we will get to watch you in a Wildcat uniform next season.

Kind Regards from a Patrick Patterson fan,
    Scott Z. and...

Patrick, you have brought so many human qualities to the University of Kentucky Basketball Program. As I have said many times, I would be proud to call you my son. You have shown what a wonderful person you are on and off the court the 3 years you have allowed us to call you our own. You will leave as a legend in the hearts of The Big Blue Nation. One day your number will hang from the rafters at Rupp. You just cannot possibly imagine how wonderful it has been to see you play these past 3 years. It has been a long time since a player of your caliber and character has left such an impression on me and my friends. I know your parents are proud of you and so are we. I was so happy when you announced you were coming back for this year. Stay safe, play hard and keep smiling! (I'm not tongue tied except on the phone!)

Patrick you are an incredible basketball player and a role model. To be graduating in 3 yrs is incredible for anyone, much less someone playing basketball and having the schedule that you have. I was appalled when I heard what people had been posting on your facebook page after the S.C. game! Those people represent such a small portion of the Big Blue Nation, unfortunately sometimes they are the loudest. First and foremost this is a game, and some people have a tendency to forget that. Keep playing with the same love and intensity you have for the game. GO BIG BLUE!

      Hey Patrick,

Know that while there are some people who claim to be 'fans' out there - know that the TRUE BLUE FANS here love everything you have done to make us proud. Yes, some of us are a little high strung and never want to see our team lose. I don't ever think that a team wins alone or loses alone. Win or lose - you are one of us and whatever you choose to do after this year - know this: We appreciate your talent and love what you have brought with you to Kentucky. Every game we choose to play - whether its on the XBOX, in a casino or on the basketball court - you don't always win. But we have come further and done more in one year than most teams do in 2 or 3 years. Patrick, I am so happy to see you on our sideline and on our court every single game. Real fans love you no matter what. And know that I and others on here are real fans.

I wish you the best and I have to say - I'm very proud that you were able to earn your degree! Way to go! Keep up the great work - and lets go Cats!

Hey Patrick, Another job well done...Keep up the good work throughout the rest of the season...It's a shame that you will be gone after this season, you are a much needed asset to the rest of the team...I hope that you can talk some of the freshmen into staying at least next year...More education is far more important than immediate riches, plus they can only get better and be worth a lot more money...Thanks again for being such an outstanding player and such a good role model for the younger crowd...

Hi Patrick, please just ignore the "simple minded" so called Ky Fans. You have been an awesome player for us since arriving at Kentucky. It's so easy for those to forget how hard you and A COUPLE others had to carry us the last two years, for that you earned allot of respect and will go down as one of my favorite UK players!! I so hope you stay around another year, because selfishly I really enjoy watching your game....Keep up the fantastic work.... those of us that bleed REAL BLUE know you're one of the BEST!!!!

      Patrick,

I think you are on of the best players UK has had in a very long time. Not just good in the game, but caring about people. I have read several blogs about you going to visit children in the hospital and really caring about others and I admire you for that. Thank you for representing UK Basketball so well. GO BLUE!

      To a true student athlete,

You truly are one of the all time great players UK has ever had and dont ever forget that. As someone who has seen you play since your freshmen year through the thick and thin of the UK program, you have remained a constant beacon of class and supreme athleticism. It disgusts me that "fans" of UK would have anything but the highest praise for your career. Your leadership with this young team is on display week in and out and that's what makes you a true star. Thanks man, I really have enjoyed watching you play and nothing pleases me more knowing we both love UK basketball. Look forward to seeing you tear it up in the NBA.

P.S. Dunk on Kobe for me sometime.
