Could Kentucky Football Coaching Search be Coming to an End?

Mike MacIntyre is at the top of the list for the vacant Kentucky Football job.

The Kentucky Football season is over and now everyone is focusing on who will be the next head coach that will replace Joker Phillips.

There is no question, at least in my mind, that Mitch Barnhart has to get it done quickly because of all the recent job vacancies in college football.

It seems like every job lately has names that has been associated with the Kentucky coaching search, so one would believe that this week Mitch Barnhart should be announcing a press conference.

There have been many names that have been rumored to be on the list for the UK job: Bobby Petrino, Bill Cowher, Kirby Smart, David Cutcliffe, Kliff Kingsbury, Tommy Tuberville, etc.

Now there are two sources, one from the CJ’s Kyle Tucker and the other from 24/7 Sports, but they both list the same names.

From 24/7:

Informed sources tell us Sonny Dykes, Mike MacIntyre and Gary Andersen are still in the mix at Kentucky – and maybe another mystery candidate. A decision is expected very soon.

Gary Andersen is the head coach at Utah State, just finished 10-2, and won the WAC title.

Sonny Dykes is the head coach at La. Tech who finished 9-3 and justlost to San Jose St in a thriller. Oddly enough that is where Mike MacIntyre finished with a 10-2 record in the WAC.

Florida St. defensive coordinator Mark Stoops has became the wildcard as his name was leaked last night as already being interviewed.

Unless something crazy happens, it sounds like one of these four will have the task of repairing Kentucky Football.
