Looks like we found Danny Jett. Well, we didn't really find him, he just showed up out of no where. It looks as if Danny wants to give up the blogging all together for fear of eliminating good paying jobs. I guess Jerry Tipton, Rick Bozich and John Clay can now take a deep breath of relief. Your jobs are safe guys....

I definitely have an opinion on this, but not enough time to go through it for now. I might have to do a special weekend edition of the Morning Drive just to address this.

Here's an excerpt from Danny's recent post..

Many people will tell you that the Internet and blogging is the way of the future. They say that traditional journalism is archaic and dying. They are right. That saddens me to a great degree. Although I do not always agree with everything that is published by the mainstream and established media, I have the ability to think critically and come to my own conclusions. Professional journalists just deliver the information which at times comes with a spin. However, I believe it is up to us to ultimately decide and separate our beliefs from facts.

In my gut I felt that my small blog was pulling some readers from the local media outlets. Even though this site makes only a small ding in the giants of places like the Lexington Herald-Leader and Louisville Courier Journal, it really bothered me none-the-less. I do not want to interfere with the livelihood of professional journalists. There have been too many people lose their jobs already. The Kentucky economy appears fragile enough.

I guess one could compare it to walking into convenience stores and seeing 'self checkout' aisles taking away the jobs that someone out there desperately needs. I make nothing off of this website, but I was effectively hurting those that depend on journalism for a living. Nobody deserves to fear for their career because of events which are beyond their control. I appreciate all of the UK blogs and the amount of time and effort so many people put into them. I just can't participate anymore.

One more thing to add, I'm kinda glad now that I didn't find him. But never the less, I wish Danny all the best in what ever he chooses to do. But

Thanks for the KSR comment. We were actually talking (on the phone) to Danny before the KSR podcast. There was also a lot of discussion with him before he made his site private... I'll just leave it at that...

We know we're not KSR and we're not trying to be KSR. KSR does a great job bringing UK news in the manner that they do. We're finding our niche and at the end of the day, we're not going to be KSR. Anyone who tries to copy them is making a very bad business decision.

I'm glad your a KSR fan, because so am I

      Thanks for reading!

NOB is not KSR and KSR is not NOB. I read KSR daily and appreciate the work that Matt et. al. put into their site. It is a tremendous amount of work.

I felt the same whay when I decided to drive a car instead ride in a horse drawn carriage. Those poor buggy whip makers.

Then I remembered that people were put to better use making cars.

Danny proves that the state of economics education in this country is in sad shape.
