  1. Draft history will be made Thursday

    by , June 20th, 2010 at 10:08 PM
What would you say if i told you UK has never produced a #1 draft pick? would you cry heresy? or maybe burn me at the stake? well surprisingly, its true. UK has never produced a #1 draft pick, however we have produced two #2 picks. The more notable of those 2 was Sam Bowie, who was selected above the best player ever, Michael Jordon (cant let MJ live that one down!). John wall could make history as the sole UK player to be a #1 pick. However the rest of the team could help him make NCAA draft history. There have been 3 teams to have 4 first round draft picks in a single draft, but this year UK has a grad total of 5 projected to go first round, an entire starting line up. This would would go down in the history books as our best draft ever, and possibly as Cal's best too. If John Wall goes as #1, that would make him the 5th coach to coach 2 #1 picks. one of the other five? the great John wooden (maybe theres something special about the name John? John Wall, John Caliapari, John Wooden, ect..) if Michael Gilchrist, Brandon Knight, Enes Kanter, Terrence Jones, or one of Cal's other AMAZING recruits go as #1 in future drafts, that would set him apart in NCAA history, along with UK.

here is an excerpt from my source at http://www.kentucky.com/2010/06/20/1...t-history.html

John Wall figures to make history Thursday night by becoming the first University of Kentucky player to be the first pick in an NBA Draft. That UK has never produced the first player taken in an NBA Draft surprises Sam Bowie, arguably the most notable Wildcat associated with the draft.
"I just assumed with Kentucky's history and tradition, we'd have had a No. 1 pick," Bowie said last week. "And I take pride in knowing a little about Kentucky basketball."
UK can make another bit of history in Thursday's NBA Draft if former teammates DeMarcus Cousins, Patrick Patterson, Daniel Orton and Eric Bledsoe join Wall as first-round selections. No college team has produced more than four first-rounders in a single draft. Three teams have produced four first-rounders in a draft

  2. newest 2011 recruit

    by , June 19th, 2010 at 01:19 PM
Trevor Lacey, a 6'3" 200lbs shooting gaurd ranked in the top 25 of the 2011 class per ESPN has Kentucky high on his list, in fact Kentucky is his favorite. The Courier Journal broke the story with an interview with Lacey. here's an excerpt:
the reigning Alabama Mr. Basketball, said, "I guess you could say that" when asked if UK was the favorite on his list. "They have the top two players in my class but neither one plays my position," Lacey said. "They are still looking for a shooting guard, so if no one else commits before I make my final decision that’s probably where I will be going to school."
The 6-foot-4, 205-pound Lacey is still listing a bunch of other schools, including Alabama, Auburn, Tennessee, Memphis, Mississippi State, Kansas and Georgia Tech.
But he said UK's recent success with the top players and coach John Calipari's system make the Wildcats "a good spot."
"You know if you go to play with the best you expect big things," he said. "When you get at that level it's not all one-on-one plays. He has a system where everybody gets in the right place at the right time and it's where you need to be too win.
    "I am about winning."
    lacey is #6, enjoy!

  3. HUGE 2012 recruit for UK

    by , June 15th, 2010 at 02:25 AM
here is a video of 2012 prospect Sim Bhullar. this kid is HUGE!! hes 7'4" going into his junior year of high school next year. I WANT HIM!!

"Sim Bhullar is a 7 foot 4 inch Indian Phenom. At the Pangos All-American Camp he showed why he is so highly regarded as the guy that could put basketball in India on the map. His soft hands, and smooth feel for the game at such a young age with his height make him a top notch prospect."- from ballislife.com

coach cal, do absolutely ANYTHING that is needed to get this rid, HE CAN DUNK THE BALL ON HIS TIP TOES!! he could possibly turn into one of the best centers ever, and could be the best player out of India ever.

  5. 2010 UK recruit leads Nigerian Junior nationals team

    by , June 10th, 2010 at 01:57 PM
heres some info about a 2012 recruit that i just learned about, which is VERY surprising considering how good this player is, and uk is in the lead for him! at one point averaging OVER 40 POINTS A GAME. In one of his games he put up 21 points, 17 rebounds, 3 steals and 2 blocks. this "manchild", as Joe boncore calls him, can play anything from the 2 to the 4 and would be a HUGE addition to the team when he graduates highschool. rutgers and maryland are also teams hes considering. i only have one question about him, "WHY HAVENT WE HEARD BOUT HIM SOONER!?"
