I started a bit of a twitter firestorm yesterday. It was after the Mississippi State LSU game. I saw a Miss St. team that tallied under 200 total yards of offense and benched their starting quarterback of 17 years in the 4th quarter. Your thinking "Yeah but it was probably a blowout, right?". You would be wrong. At its absolute worse it was a 2 possession game. Had the bulldogs broke one for a td, and recovered an onsides kick, they would have won. Dan Mullen felt his team was playing so badly a change was needed and Relf was benched. After witnessing the Miss St. offense i stated on twitter "As bad as UK football sucks, there's no way they will perform as badly against LSU as Miss St. did tonight". First off i state that UK football isnt great. So it is known i am not a blind stupid person. Secondly i state that UK would gain more than 200 yards offense against this LSU team. Am I out of line on either account? IF UK starts from its own 20 and drive down to score just twice, they will have gained more than 200 yards of offense. I realize that UK didn't exactly light the word on fire against WKU in the first game, but it was the first game. It cant be used as a measuring stick until the end of time. For instance, the UK basketball team 2 years ago went toe to toe against Miami (Ohio). In fact it took a last second shot by John Wall to win the game. Did that mean that Miami, OH was just as good as UK? No, it was early in the season, the team was still finding its identity and chemistry. By no means am I saying UK will lead the nation in offense. I am saying that with the offensive line getting more and more healthy, Newton getting settled in and receivers catching a few more freaking balls, this UK team can put some points on the board. Will they score more than 6 points against LSU. Hell yes. Will they gain more than 200 yards against Louisville Saturday? They better, otherwise UK does in fact suck as bad as people think.
