    ESPN is reporting:
The Cincinnati Reds and free-agent shortstop Orlando Cabrera have agreed to a one-year, $3 million contract, MLB.com has reported, citing an unnamed source.

The deal, which MLB.com reported includes a $3 million option with a $1 million buyout for 2011, follows a one-year, $4 million contract Cabrera played with in 2009.
Cabrera, a 12-year veteran with a .275 career average, hit .284 last season with the Athletics and Twins. Oakland traded him to Minnesota shortly before the July 31 non-waiver trade deadline.
In 2004, Cabrera was sent from Montreal to Boston at the trade deadline to take over at shortstop for Nomar Garciaparra and helped the Red Sox win the World Series.
Information from The Associated Press was used in this report.

I am a huge Cincinnati Reds fan and will probably talk about them, post articles, give updates as the year goes along. The Reds have already had an exciting off-season and all they did was sign one guy. Of course that guy has a 100 mph fastball. Aroldis Champman, a Cuban National Player that snuck out of the Cuba to live in Cincinnati. Not much of a change there, huh? If they get Olando Cabrera it could be a year where the Reds might finally get it together. At least I hope. Be a long year for everyone around me if they don't at least finish .500. I am realistic!!

A Reds source says the club is very confident that Orlando Cabrera will accept the club’s offer. The Denver Post reported that Orlando Cabrera is “leaning toward” signing with the Reds. That likely means he’s told the Rockies they’re out it. A third team may be involved.
I don’t expect an announcement tonight from the Reds on Cabrera or Jonny Gomes. The Reds will will likely wait until Monday to announce a deal.
Unless I hear more tonight, this will be last post for a week. I’m heading to Colorado for some pre-spring training skiing.
