  2. New Entrants into Ricardo Ratliffe Sweepstakes

    by , January 8th, 2010 at 07:07 PM (View from Section 137)

    From http://www.cfpatriots.com/2010/01/new-entrants-in-ricardo-ratliffe.html

Just talked to Patriots sophomore All-American Ricardo Ratliffe before practice, and he mentioned a few schools interested in him that I hadn't heard before. Those programs are UNC-Charlotte, Texas Christian University and Indiana University. Also, representatives from Kentucky and South Carolina were on hand for CF's game Wednesday night. Ratliffe said he continues to consider all interested schools and doesn't plan to commit until spring.

  3. Minnesota Rock Star Tubby Smith!

    by , January 8th, 2010 at 01:49 AM (View from Section 137)

Remember Tubby Time? It's still around. This time, Tubby Smith is teaching the Golden Gophers and their fans about having a winning program. If you didn't know, Smith is a rock star in Minnesota!

I'll be the first to say I was becoming very frustrated over the last two years of the Tubby Smith era. I was always a Tubby Smith (the person) fan. He's all class and he did an outstanding job representing the university and state. Just compare him to Pitino and Gillespie...no contest...Tubby wins hands down. Pitino might be able to recruit better players than Tubby, but I think Smith could always beat him at the "X's" and "O's". Gillispie....it was just a big mistake. Let's move on....

Looking back on Smith's departure now, seems like it was just meant to be. If he doesn't leave, we don't have the coach we have today. We did have to endure two years with Gillespie, but I think that was needed in order "clean the pallet" for Calipari. Think about it..Which one is more controversial? Calipari replacing Tubby Smith or Calipari replacing a Gillespie?

When you watch this video you'll see that smith is obviously much more relaxed and having fun. Something I think he lost towards the end of his time in Lexington.

The sad part of this video is that you'll see Minnesota's version of midnight madness. The team is exited people actually showed up to watch them play at night....all 10 of them. The stand are more than 80% empty. At the end, Smith actually has to teach the crowd what they're supposed to do when someone shoots a three pointer (can you imagin doing that in Rupp?).

    by , January 5th, 2010 at 07:22 PM (View from Section 137)

Now that we all know that John Wall is on the cover of Sports Illustrated this week, I got curious and wanted to see the last couple of times that something related to Kentucky Basketball adorned SI.
