Kentucky A.D. Mitch Barnhart says the school has begun discussions on a new deal that would keep John Calipari at Kentucky for the rest of his career. Yeah. because that’s going to happen. Yeah, right around the time I replace Dan Issel as the school’s all time leading scorer. Calipari saw the Yahoo sports report that said he’s intrigued by the Chicago Bulls opening and responded with the following tweet: “Every year you will hear my name mentioned for NBA jobs because I coached in the league before. I’m very happy at Kentucky.”
I believe that. I think he is happy at Kentucky. Just not as happy as he’d be coaching Derrick Rose and the Chicago Bulls. Or coaching Lebron James, for instance. Cal’s not spending his career coaching at Kentucky. He’ll do what he’s always done: recruit like a mother, win a ton of games, and then bust out when he finds a situation he likes better than the one he has. U-K is great, but it’s not the NBA. And you know he has some unfinished business there. And when he gets that shot again, he’ll be better prepared than he was the first time around. Just know this, there’s a better gig than the one he has right now, and when he’s offered it, he’ll jump. It’s not a question of if but a matter of when.

I got this from the Jim Rome Website. Just want to give credit where credit is due. Anyhow I think that it is inevitable for any coach to leave when the time is right. Calipari is a very special individual that brings something to the game of basketball and UK. He has that same attitude and charisma that left with Pitino. UK needs that spark that he gives. Let's not forget that he wanted to be here when we got BCG. So he will be here until he wins a National title maybe longer. What else can we ask for? If he does for UK what Pitino did then we cannot hold him down. We aren't talking about IU(Knight), Duke(Coach K), UCONN(Calhoun) or some of the other programs that have coaches in lifetime positions. The UK basketball program is full of One and Dones. If we get one NCAA title out of Coach Cal what else can we ask of him. Pitino won one title for the University and could potentially have won 3 given the teams that followed. The memories we will have even from this past season are worth all of those since '98.

Some may read this and say UK is a Win at all Cost Program and maybe the guy writing this thinks that UK should pull out all the stops to WIN BABY WIN(HAHA he used a Sarah Palin Punn). Not so. I want to win badly and Coach CAL allows us to win NOW and with a team that is fun to watch. So in the end yeah he is going to leave at some point, when he does is the question, not if. I just hope he gets us a Title along the way. Probably not this season, but soon REALLY SOON! :ukbball:
