  1. Before I goto bed...

    by , May 18th, 2010 at 11:55 PM

As I sit here watching the Boston/Orlando game, I go back and just think about how good Rajon Rondo could have been at Kentucky if he had played in a more fast-paced style offense. Tubby ball certainly sheltered him from showcasing his true talent, but I won't trade his UK days for nothing. He hit some very big shots during his two seasons at UK and I was fortunate enough to be at the UCF game, where he hit a buzzer-beater to win the game. Now Rajon is about to lead the Boston Celtics to yet another NBA finals, as he and the C's lead the series 2-0.

Speaking of the NBA, tonight the NBA draft lottery took place and the Washington Wizards got the pick they where hoping for - as they got the #1 pick and more than likely the rights to our very own, John Wall. Also, the Sixers got the #2 pick and it wouldn't surprise me if they picked Boogie Cousins. The poor Nets ended up with the #3 pick and I'd assume if avaliable - they'll select Evan Turner. So I'll just go ahead and predict that the top 3 picks in the NBA draft are: 1. John Wall (Wizards) 2. DeMarcus Cousins (Sixers) 3. Evan Turner (Nets).

Also today, we finally heard something on Terrence Jones - as he'll sign something tomorrow, whether that's a LOI or a financial aid agreement. Signs are looking good for Kentucky - as Jones has waited this long to make a final say-so on where he'll be attending college next season. Hopefully it is Kentucky, but I wouldn't be surprised if he indeed stuck with Washington.

That is all I have on my mind tonight... good night readers!
  2. Before I goto bed...

    by , May 18th, 2010 at 12:27 AM

Tonight I start my (hopefully) everyday nightly blog. I'll probably end up NOT doing this every night, because it's a beautiful time of the year and I can go out and golf (even though I'm not so good) during the day and fish at night with my buddies. But I do want to share my daily thoughts with you readers as often as I can. I'll introduce myself, the name is Charlie and I live in Prestonsburg. I am 20 years old and I attend Big Sandy C&T college here in P-burg. I enjoy high school, college, and professional sports. I love the Kentucky Wildcats and I've been a crazy fan who's followed Kentucky basketball & football for as long as I can remember. I also moderate a high school sports message board (BluegrassRivals) and I've been doing that since June 2005.

Now onto my daily thoughts... today we and myself learned about Joker Phillips landing two new 2011 commits from receiver, Darien Thomas and in-state WR/DB, Josh Forrest. Both seem very athletic from there YouTube videos and although neither will likely become highly rated recruits on any recruiting services website, both are expected to be good four year players for the team and they also provide more size and athleticism.

We also couldn't turn it to ESPN without hearing about how the Bulls are pursuing our head coach, John Calipari and NBA MVP, Lebron James in a package deal. Thankfully though, many sources have said that coach Cal will remain at Kentucky, like he has told us on his Lexy/Twitter posts. It is a slow part of the year for most sports fans in Kentucky, as baseball isn't really our thing, but hopefully these rumors will die down over the next week or so, but that's highly unlikely.

Last but no least, my Lakers and Kobe Bryant got started off on the right foot tonight, as they dismantled the Phoenix Suns, 128-107. Kobe had 40 pts, 5 rebs, 5 asts, and 1 stl. My boy Lamar Odom also contributed big-time off the bench as we Lakers fans had to hear about how much better the Suns bench was than ours. But hopefully it can be put to rest and the Lakers can sweep the Suns. But I'll give one game to Phoenix at home and take the Lakers in 5. I'll also take the Celtics in 6, in the eastern conference finals over the Magic.

Also some interesting news for you high school basketball fans out there, Shelby Valley head coach, Jason Booher has accepted the head coaching position at Covington Holmes high school. The two should be a dangerous tandem and expect to see Holmes in the sweet 16 about every season as Booher's pressure defense should be a perfect fit with the athletes Holmes has.

    I'm out!
  3. Marc Maggard vs. Matt Jones

    by , May 13th, 2010 at 11:35 PM

The two have been taking shots at one another for quite sometime now, but it has heated up today, so this leads me to ask:

Who would you take in a organized MMA fight between Marc Maggard and Matt Jones? Fire away!
