Kentucky recruit Anthony Davis is burning up the AAU circuit this summer, and I have said before, there is a good chance he overtakes Michael Gilchrist as the #1 ranked player in the 2011 class. How many #1 players can you have on one college team? I hope we get to find out.

Anthony Davis was just hoping to get a college scholarship when he decided to play on the AAU circuit this spring and summer for Chicago Meanstreets. The class of 2011 prospect from Chicago Perspectives hadn't gotten much attention from college recruiters in the past, but after a recent growth spurt sprouted him to 6'9" he was determined to get some good offers before his senior season started; no one could've predicted what would happen next. After first grabbing the attention of the scouts in the building at a couple early season AAU tournaments in Chicago and Indiana, Anthony's name started gaining some buzz and word began to travel that he was going to be a big time player. With incredible length (a 7'3" wingspan), phenomenal athleticism, versatility that allows him to play all 5 positions on the floor, and an extremely high basketball IQ- it was clear to anyone who watched his games that he was going to be special. A few youtube videos began to circulate to college coaches and the offers began pouring in- by the end of the spring almost every big time college program in America had offered him a scholarship (he has now narrowed his list to Ohio State, Syracuse, Kentucky, and North Carolina). He kept up his dominant pace at his next few tournaments, earning him an invite to the prestigious NBA top 100 camp and LeBron James Skills Academy. At the NBA camp Anthony was named Most Outstanding Prospect, and after the LeBron camp and the Nike Peach Jam, Anthony has officially put his name in contention for the #1 ranking in the nation. Jeff Goodman, a highly respected college basketball analyst for FOX sports, already has Anthony #1 in his rankings, and others are sure to follow suit in the near future. From hoping to get a college scholarship- to determined to become an All-American and a top NBA draft pick- life has changed quite a bit for the man they call AD23, and in this clip before one of his recent games in his high school summer league he talks about all that and more with Daniel Poneman .....
