Todd Svoboda battling bone cancer

University of Kentucky Athletics Director tweeted that former Wildcat Todd Svoboda is at the Markey Cancer Center battling bone cancer.

In many ways, the full extent of Kentucky’s reemergence was symbolized last Saturday by Todd Svoboda, a 6-foot-9-inch, 215-pound senior.

Svoboda is a walk-on. He transferred from Northern Kentucky despite being told by the Kentucky coach, Rick Pitino, in no uncertain terms that he wouldn’t receive a minute of playing time. His sole function was to be practice fodder for Jamal Mashburn, Rodrick Rhodes and the Wildcats’ other scholarship players.
