It took almost every second of the game, but Kentucky earned a much needed win, and got it with the help of Willie Cauley-Stein.

Cauley-Stein’s career high 20 points and 7 rebounds, and 2 huge blocks in the last minute of the game, were enough to push the Wildcats to a 74-70 win over Vanderbilt.

Ryan Harrow and Archie Goodwin rose from the ashes to combine for 28 points, 11 rebounds and 7 assists to cure the backcourt woes for the time being.

Kentucky shot 29-56 from the field for 51.8% and only committed 7 turnovers on the night.

The big question mark is still the defense though, as Vanderbilt scored in the 70s for the first time in a conference game this season. Kentucky just can’t figure out how to put away teams down the stretch and letting Vandy hang around to get as close as 2 points inside the 2 minute mark is very concerning going into a huge matchup with Missouri on Saturday.

The win pushed Kentucky’s record to 18-8 and 9-4 in the SEC. Vandy drops to 10-15 and 4-9 in the conference.
