Head Coaching Offers Could End Possibility of Neal Brown at Kentucky

Texas Tech offensive coordinator and Kentucky alum Neal Brown is one of the hottest names in the coaching search world and new UK head coach Mark Stoops is in the mix for his services.

Many have reported that Brown would make the parallel move to Kentucky, even saying it was a done deal. With several head coaching jobs opening up over the last 36 hours, the Danville native could also have up to 3 offers on the table to be a head coach.

How many 32 year olds get offered three head coaching jobs in the span of one week?

Reportedly, Southern Miss and Arkansas State are showing considerable interest in Brown as head coach. Sonny Dykes left Louisiana Tech for California today, and one would think it would be an easy transition to Ruston for Neal since he runs the same basic Air Raid offense as Dykes and offensive coordinator Tony Franklin.

Looking at the situation, one would think Kentucky has to be a long shot to get Neal Brown, but I have been told that he would love to be in Lexington. The problem is that coaches go their whole career and never get a D1 offer, and as I said earlier, it is a possibility that Brown could get 3 this week.

If you are Neal Brown, you basically have three viable choices: 1. Stay at Texas Tech as offensive coordinator, 2. If offered a head coaching position take it, 3. Offensive coordinator at home in Kentucky.

Any of those three choices will continue a great future in football, and I wouldn’t be surprised if we knew something by Friday which viable future Neal Brown selects.
