Ex-UL Football Player Sues University, Coach Charlie Strong

On the eve of the biggest basketball matchup in the country, the last thing the University of Louisville needs is a distraction.

Apparently, they’re getting one anyway.

The Associated Press is reporting Former Louisville defensive lineman Patrick Grant has filed suit in Jefferson County Circuit Court against the University of Louisville and Head Coach Charlie Strong, claiming he was attacked by two teammates, then was coerced into covering it up by the coaching staff.

…[Grant] alleges two teammates attacked him Oct. 24, 2010, in the locker room at Papa John’s Cardinal Stadium and, according to the lawsuit, beat him “so badly that he required immediate, urgent care and nearly lost his left eye.”

Grant claims that on the way to the hospital, the team’s trainer told him to lie about the beating coming from his teammates.

Officials with the University have declined comment at this time.

Stay tuned for more details on this developing story.

I'm a lifelong, die-hard Kentucky fan who loves UK sports as much as I hate UL and everything they stand for. I'd rather lose with the Boys in Blue than win with Cardinal red. That pretty much sums me up.
