Where to Watch Kentucky vs. Duke in Champions Classic

The #3 Kentucky Wildcats (1-0) play the #9 Duke Blue Devils(1-0) in the Champions Classic in the Georgia Dome at 9:30pm on ESPN.

The announcers for tonight’s game are Dan Shulman, Dick Vitale, and Bobby Knight. The sideline reporter is Andy Katz.

Duke is favored by 4 points.

Here is the background on tonight’s game.

Kentucky owns an all-time record of 11-8 against Duke. UK faced the Blue Devils for the first time in the 1930 season, with the most recent matchup occuring in 2001. Duke earned a 95-92 overtime win in Dec. of 2001.

Duke opened the season with a 74-55 win over Georgia State on Friday, Nov. 9. Mason Plumlee paced the Blue Devils with 19 points, 14 rebounds and four blocks in the win.

Kentucky’s last victory over the Blue Devils came on March 22, 1998 in an 86-84 triumph in the Elite Eight en route to the program’s seventh national title. Three of the teams’ last four meetings have been decided by three points or
fewer.

Mike Krzyzewski is 4-1 at Duke against the Wildcats.

John Calipari has earned an 0-1 all-time record against Duke.

Duke is 6-3 since the 2009-10 season in games against top 10 opponents. The Blue Devils have won 34 of their last 53 games when both teams have been ranked in the top 10.

The Wildcats own a 127-62 all-time record against schools comprising the Atlantic Coast Conference with their most recent win coming in the season-opener against Maryland on Friday. UK has faced Georgia Tech more than any other member institution and owns a 56-15 alltime mark against the Yellow Jackets.

The Blue Devils are facing an SEC opponent for just the second time in the last seven years. Duke topped Tennessee, 77-67, in the opening round of the Maui Invitational last season. Coach K is 25-8 at Duke against teams currently in the SEC.

The Wildcats are 68-29 all-time in games played in Atlanta with most of the recent action coming in last year’s NCAA Tournaments regional round. Since the 1999 SEC Tournament, Kentucky is 12-3 in Atlanta, and 12-2 in the Georgia Dome. One of the losses came to Georgia in Alexander Memorial Coliseum after a a tornado struck the Georgia Dome in the 2008 SEC Tournament moving the game to Georgia Tech’s arena.
