Multiple reports by WYMT in Hazard and Kentucky Sports Radio are confirming that Florida Defensive Coordinator Mark Stoops is the new head football coach at the University of Kentucky.

Stoops replaces former head coach Joker Phillips who was fired with two weeks left in the regular season.

The report says that he should be officially announced today, but details have not been released by UK as of yet.

About Scott Anderson

I love covering the Kentucky Wildcats and even though I can't cheer on the outside when I go to games now, I am definitely cheering on the inside. You can follow me at @SAndersonNOB on twitter.

Looks as if this is true barnhart may have made the splash hire he wanted it will be intresting to here the details of the contract and to see what kind of impact his name has on recruiting this is for sure the defense should improve

He’s the defensive coordinator at Florida State University.

Will give Mitch some credit for going after a coach with a decent pedigree if this is the actual choice.

I just don’t understand… our teams problem is offense, yet Barnhart hires a defensive coordinator from the ACC who just 3 days ago gave up 36 points to a team that has a 20+ year winning streak against us… Maybe he’s the right guy and Mitch sees something, but Stoops just doesn’t feel like the right guy to me…

Wait and see this will be the shot in the arm ky needs.
