Derek Willis gets Ejected as Bullitt East Wins Season Opener

Kentucky signee and Mr. Basketball favorite Derek Willis probably didn’t make the impression he would have wanted tonight in his season opener.

Willis was ejected early in the 3rd quarter arguing this illegal screen call with an official:

Willis did score 14 points on 5-8 shooting and grabbed 8 rebounds in the 17 minutes he did play as Bullitt East beat Lafayette 74-57. Here are two of Willis’ points:

The real story for the Chargers was Bellarmine signee Rusty Troutman’s 32 points on 12-19 shooting and finished an exceptional 7-11 from behind the arc.

Layfayette’s Jackson Davis, son of former Kentucky player Jonathan, had 19 points and 8 rebounds in a losing effort for the Generals. Davis is being heavily recruited by Virginia Commonwealth. Here are 2 of his points as he hit a shot to end the first quarter:
