Winning Football about Money or Coaching?

The big talk today is about how much Kentucky spent on the light show at Big Blue Madness and how it is as much or more than the school spends on football recruiting.

I believe Jerry Tipton of the Lexington Herald reported it first that Kentucky spent between 250,000 and 300,000 dollars on the light show Friday night. My opinion it was the best intro to an event I have ever seen.

Does that make it worth it?

Deadspin picked up the story and they think Kentucky isn’t even trying to support football and the light show’s cost proves it.

John Clay threw his opinion into the hat and says Kentucky still spends more on football recruiting than LSU, South Carolina, and Mississippi State as reported by ESPN.

That right there makes me think this is a big deal about nothing.

Is it the lack of money or is it the lack of coaching?

Those 3 schools are definitely better than Kentucky in football, but have Les Miles, Steve Spurrier, and Dan Mullen as head coaches.

I guess the point I am trying to make, is it that big of deal for Kentucky Basketball to have a wonderful light show for 24,000 fans and top recruits?

I think if Kentucky Football wasn’t 1-6 this wouldn’t be an issue at all.

I love me some Kentucky Basketball!! But I also love also love me some Kentucky Football! I agree they should share the money with the football teams as well!! Publicity is a main factor in our recruiting for our basketball team. And that in itself helps our boys get recruited. Our football team deserves the same opportunities that they give to the others.
