Well in case you haven’t heard, Vanderbilt star center Festus Ezeli will miss the first six games of this season due to improper benefits.
But what improper benefits exactly? Apparently Ezeli stayed in a hotel room that was paid for by Vanderbilt Alumni. That’s a no-no in the NCAA’s eyes, so Vandy has decided to sit their best big man for the first six games.
So who are they playing the first six games? They start with a talented Oregon team and then face Cleveland State, Bucknell, at North Carolina State, Monmouth, and finishes with Xavier. Outside of Xavier none of these teams seem to pose too much of a threat to the Commodores this season. Oregon has some talented big men is Olu Asholou and Tony Woods, which might be an issue for Vandy. Xavier has a shot at beating them even with Ezeli, making that game even more interesting.
While this suspension might not affect the Wildcats directly, the fact that others (Vandy fans) are always complaing that UK “cheats” and then another SEC school gets caught? Golden. I think it’s time for other SEC fans to stop worrying about what Kentucky is doing and worry about the infractions their own teams are committing. What do you think?
