We started the summer with the New York Times accusations into the eligibility of Eric Bledsoe. The NYT accused Bledsoe of not making the grades and accepting funds to pay for rent for him and his family. The last report from this story was the Birmingham School System was conducting an investigation via an independent law firm. It seems their findings may be available next week.

UK head coach John Calipari took a few minutes today to get on the phone with Mike & Mike on ESPN Radio to talk about the state of Kentucky basketball, the rumors of him going to the NBA to coach LeBron and Kentucky being a recruiting powerhouse right now. Coach Cal is humble stating that the recent recruiting power came from the success last year, the 5 draft Cats going in the first round and the fact that it changed those families lives. ...

Coach Cal talks a little bit about the surprise phone call from Terrence Jones during recruiting season. If you recall, Terrence Jones provided a verbal commitment to the University of Washington and shortly after, rumors ran rampant of a botched decision made by Jones. Then on the final night of recruiting, Jones reversed his decision by committing to Kentucky.

Patrick Patterson and Chuck Hayes, both of the Houston Rockets, got a chance to take some BP at Minute Maid Park this past week. Looks like Chuck might be able to play for the Astros. It must be nice to play in the NBA, that way you can go about anywhere you want and get to do things you wouldn't normally get to do. I wish Houston had a hockey team, now that would be interesting..

If we think the Class of 2011 can’t get any better, hang around and wait. Coach Calipari has recruited, what arguably, may be the greatest class in the history of Kentucky Basketball, but he's not done yet.

With four of the top 25 players in the nation already committed, including three of the top six (No. 2 Michael Gilchrist, No. 3 Marquis Teague and No. 6 Anthony Davis according to Rivals), Calipari could be content, but that’s not the approach of Coach Cal when it comes to recruiting or anything else around the Commonwealth.

AD23 blew up this summer; dominating on the AAU circuit with Meanstreets and playing his way to the top spot in scout.com's newest 2011 rankings. Davis had a short but exciting recruitment, with almost every major program in the nation trying to give him their pitch; Louisville, Illinois, Arizona, UNC, Duke, Notre Dame etc - in the end AD chose Kentucky.

Coach Cal kicked off his tour to promote his book "Bounce Back" last night. The kick off stop launched from Joseph Beth Booksellers in Lexington last night but there are plenty of more stops and signing opportunities planned around the state. The full schedule is below. The schedule includes a stop in Louisville at 11am before the Governor's Cup game this Saturday.
